Sounds like an utter waste of money. If you're going to waste money, at least get a real upgrade. You get my point? It's like upgrading from a droid to a droid 2, and paying a premium to make the change. With the latter, the marginal benefit is far less than the marginal cost.

I just bought one. Why all the hate for the "IS"? It is my first BMW but I have never driven anything finer or faster. Mine cost $52,495..not bad in my book but I guess you could consider that expensive when a CPO 2008 335i goes for 33K. You're entitled to your opinion...but maybe you should go drive one.

i say instead of swapping to a 335is, you should just mod your 335i. Get LSD. That's like the biggest difference.

Only real reason to go for 335is is for DCT or if you just want a newer car. Other than that, 335i.

lol I get your analogy but bad example. I want a droid2 over my droid1. Well, doesn't need to be a droid, I just hate how slow my 600mhz is. I want 1ghz. That's a pretty decent upgrade in speed IMO. I'm still miffed at how I bought a droid 1 like 2 months before the Incredible came out.

you have 2009 e92 335i, you sold e92 m3, and you wanna get 2011 335is ?

if you have ton of money, i dont see why not, but it is a waist of money for sure. ps. M3 beats the hell out of both 335i and 335is, why did you sell that ?

i would find that guy who bought your m3 and buy it back..... < cant go wrong with this move.

and if you are switching cars like that, who cares about MPG ? I mean i cant afford a new 335is and i dont care if my car is 30mpg or 20mpg

I'd just sit tight till the f32 comes out...but I can understand the new car itch!

But in that case...get a new car, not a better version of what you already have! M3 or something else....life is short, try something new!

Just what I was thinking.

I can't say I agree with OP's direction here. It probably cost him more in depreciation and cost to trade to the 335i than he would have spent extra to fuel the ///M3. In the beginning, it also wasn't listed as sold in his signature...

And an average of 1934586724 threads each day

Now he's gonna spend a ton on trading in his 09 to a 335is... which he's gonna have to start modding all over again to get the same power as his car.

I understand getting the 335is if you can swing it and you're looking at buying a 335i anyways, but if you own such a new 335i, isn't it just better to wait for the 335is to come on the market used?

You misunderstood. I said going from a 335i to a 335is is a waste, as a matter of fact, an utter waste of money. If you already have a 335i, it's a bad move to get a 335is.

Personally, if I had the job 4 years ago that I have today, I would buy a M3, or if the mpgs still bugged me, a 335is. But since I already have a 335i, it would be an utter waste of money to get a 335is. The marginal benefit is less than the marginal cost. That's not hate, that's econ 101.
