Need help from the veterans of this forum!
Hi there,
I have been folowing this forum for some time now, and it has been very beneficial to me. I have put a 550i on order on August 7th, and it eventually went into production on October 1st. While that wait was long and painful and meaningless, it actually hopefully will work out as the vehicle I have ordered is most likely to come back with the post September production improvements (if any) and the ComBox. The production has been finished on October 5th, and the vehicle seems to have arrived at the port of exit on October 7th. The problem starts here, as since then it has been waiting in that domain. I am getting the feeling from other forums that other folks who have ordered from the west coast of the US, whose cars have completed the production phase later than mine did, aer already on the water. And clearly their order dates are way later than mine too. And this is with my order being a priority 1 order as well... I am trying to make some sense out of this, so if there is any light that you ocan shed on it, that would be great. One thing that comes to my mind is the potential of a problem with the car, but I presume they would have found it before they shipped it to the port, as they probably are not testing anything at the port. The only other alternative would be a crane falling on top of it, but I do not think I will be hearing about that anytime soon... As I said, any insight/help is appreciated.

Where are you getting your information? Both the BMW website and the phone system can be behind reality. And once the car gets to the port it is actually in the hands of a third-party so BMW can have trouble tracking it. You CA should be able to give you the latest information including which ship it's on.

I am getting my information from all possible sources, which are on the same page with respect to each other. BMW website, automated phone system, BMWNA representative and my CA. The situation is no different with respect to the info provided by any one of them.

Ditto what kscarrol said. The BMW website and phone system is wonderful, but not always up-to-date. The SA has much more detailed and accurate information, as well as an expected delivery date (although my car ended up being a week late). My car seemed to sit at the dock for a week as well, but in hindsight (based on ship sailing date) was there only a few days.

Your issue could be related to the west coast but as you point out, it seems like folks with cars completed after yours are on the way. Very frustrating!

I would bet that your car is already on a boat and starting the journey over. Since you are a West Coaster, I think most of these are handled by on of the other Wallenius ship lines. If you havent already, check the Tracking forum for more details. The only other insight I could offer is to check the shipping activity in Bremerhaven and look up every ship's iternary to see if any are going to the West Coast. It makes sense that they may delay a couple more days than those for East Coast, since the journey is so much longer and have to load up for that journey. Rest assured, information does take some time to get updated... I did not get confimation that my car was on a ship until it was already a day into the journey. It tool Wallenius that long to get the information plugged into their website. Nothing has happened to your car.

Thank you for all your input. Sounds like waiting is what is in order for me, which is the hardest part, as I am sure you all will concur...
But I will start questioning things if this week also passes by with no updates, as it would be more than 10 business days with no updates since the delivery to the port, and that would be a flag in my book to put it mildly...
