Paris Motor Show
Great weekend in Paris with my boys, taking in the Paris Motor Show. It was impressive, the location at the Expo in Porto D'Versaille is excellent. There was a good spread of manufacturers, the only downside was the overwhelming number of people, especially around the Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus, BMW, Lambo and Mercedes stands, particularly difficult with a wheelchair. Fortunately we were invited onto the Porsche and the Ferrari stands for a good close up look!
Where the vehicles were accessible to the public, they were being swarmed over by Frenchies who were pushing, prodding, touching, slamming , so, never buy an ex show car! Highlights were the RR Evoque, beautifully proportioned and a great looking mini RR. Pork 911 Speedster also looked awesome. A few snaps.... BMW prototype, not sure what this is about, but stunning. New 6 Series, jury is out for me on this, chrome wheels awful! An E92 335i some kind of super sport version(?) with bucket seats. A pair of M3s, the coupe was a Matt Black, did not like that colour at all. Gull wing Merc.... RR Evoque Ferrari Stand, heaven! I bought this one! Porsche... the white GTS Cab and the Speedster were 'nice'! |

Any mention of power output for the 335i? just wondering if it might be a Euro version of the 335is the Yanks get.

Good pics Peter. Not been to a motor show in years; all the people put me off!!! Must be a nightmare with a wheelchair; glad to hear they let you onto the stands though . Bet your lads loved it.
I'm liking the 6 series actually (bar the wheels).

Great pics!
Agree with Rog - the 6 looks pretty good. Nice interior too. Evoque may look okay but most will be 2WD which is quite simply WRONG for that sort of car. I expect to see many getting stuck in Rock (Cornwall) as they try and tow out their new speedboats... |

Good pics. I think the Evoque thing is repulsive - Range Rover is going like Burberry. Once it was classy and understated for those who wouldn't be seen dead in a Toyota Landcruiser but now they're brash, vulgar, footballers' playthings. They kept credibility by still being superb off-road (if you didn't specify gangsta wheels) but this just confirms it. What a pile of shit.

Hey Peter - I was there this weekend too (well, on Saturday). Not only that, but I got on the Ferrari stand...my other half's Dad has a friend who works for Graypaul Ferrari and he sorted the 'access' out or me!
How busy was it though...at some points it was so busy that it was physically impossible to actually move in any direction! Got to say, my favourite car (other than non-attainable stuff like the 458 Italia) was the new 6 series concept....which is well on the way to being favourite for my next car (which would also mean I will have kept my C63 for over a year ) |

Yes they do, I initially thought the M3 I saw with the Comp pack wheels were Alufelgen's!

Nice pictures. Interesting to see the Evoque is not universally popular above.
I quite fancy the 240ps petrol - I assume this is 4wd? There is no info on which are 2wd/4wd on the range rover website. The 150ps diesel is no doubt the 60mpg (2wd) version. If they are as light and fuel efficient as the hype suggests, I think they should be applauded for not being just another fat 4wd (2.5 ton discovery anyone....?). The interior looks fab (albeit 4 seats only). If its far enough under 40k I may take the plunge.....when are they out, next Summer? PS The shark fins on the 997 speedster are just so wrong! |
