Ripped Seat
Hi,
I have a 2007 E92. I've recently ripped the rubber (std seat) with my jeans. All my jeans have big arse buttons in the rear pocket. It left a tear about 3 inches long. It didn't rip all the way through just on the surface. But slowly starting to ripped through. 1) Is this covered by warrenty (in Canada)? 2) How do I fix temporary to prevent more tearing? 3) Is there a way to fix this permantly? Who usually does this kind of work?

I had this problem in another vehicle. If its superficial i used some leather cleaner and it came off and was not noticeable. I had one that was and called in a professional to fix it. Go to a reputable detailing shop and see what they say. It could be an easy fix and it wont be an expensive fix. good luck

I ask the questions you're afraid to ask.

Why should it be covered under warranty? You said yourself that you caused the problem because your pants have big buttons.
Find an automotive upholstery shop. They should be able to fix it. |

you can order the respective seat cover from bmw (try getbmwparts.com to buy and realoem.com to get part number) and have it installed or install it yourself.

I did the savage repair, LOL
Quote:
1) Squeeze the crack in the leatherette, both sides of it, as though you are compressing a blister... this made the inner sides of the crack project upwards, so you can see them. 2) Very carefully, apply some Crazy Glue to the inner sides of the rip, very carefully so not to smear glue on the rest of the uphostery. 3) Release the pressure on the crack, so the upholstery levels itself again. The glue will make the crack stick together and stay that way. 4) Treat the surface with a protective-cleaning product. In my case, the natural grease I used for my leather seats on my 2001 e39. This might look primitive, but until now has worked fine, the tear hasnīt expanded, and saved me a lot of money. Donīt know how long it will last, but if it deteriorates later, I will change only that part....crazy prices asked by the dealership. Hope it helps. |
