Misfires with Jb3.....Now its out and they're gone?

Ok dont want to start a tuner war just need some insight on my situation.

For months my car has misfired (aggressively) with every cold morning start. Huge backfires and rotten egg smell.

Also the car used to misfire and go into limp mode once i hit 14-15 psi. So i made a service appointment for new injectors and i went along with taking the JB3 out.

So it sat outside in this ice cold weather we have had in NJ overnight and when i start it the next day it simply fires up and settles right down no misfiring????.

So i go on to do about 10 WOT runs ..No misfiring.

I figured ahhh lets see what happens another day. So the car sits overnight, Fired it up in the morning, no misfires, no backfires, did a couple WOT runs, No misfires.

Can anyone explain to me what the hell is going on and what do i do to fix it?
Will the procede be different?

I had an issue one time with misfires and horrible vibrations and power delivery in the past.

I reset all adaptations via BT tool and it fixed everything.

Also reloaded all firmware and mapware ETC.

Highly recommend this if you have the means.

If all else disconnect battery for a good amount of time and hopefully that might do a hard reset? Im not sure if this car is capable of that in that way.

You really need a BT tool.

If your getting misfires stock or a with a tune, it means there is something else going on aside from the tune.

Recommend Resting adaptations first.

After that your going to need to look into injectors coils or pump as a possible cause. I think you said you recently changed plugs so you got that out of the way.

Ya but the car is fine without the Jb3. Why would i need to do a hard reset and the car runs fine without the tune.

Faulty injectors will act fine sometimes and other times crap out. If you have a cold start misfire injectors are the most likely cause. The problem will be back. If you have a pin out harness there is always the chance you have some wiring issue, etc, as well but that would trigger codes every time.

Maybe your car has an existing issue that when combined with more boost (jb3) makes the problem more apparent.

If my car was throwing limps or misfires, I wouldn't be putting too much blame on the jb3. I remember my car going into limp modes all the time in 4-5 gears at WOT. So I unistalled my jb3 took it to the dealer and it appears my pump was dying on me. Point is IMO with either tune if your car is throwing misfires it's something mechanical.

Couldnt hurt, like I said it did wonders for me. I wouldnt take a few days of everything going good to conclude everything is fine.

I thought my pump was going out last march... took everything out... left everything out for 2 weeks.... car ran fine for 2 weeks. Put everything back in and car was fine even still.

These cars dont follow logic they are like women!

The pumps and injectors are hit or miss. Sometimes they act up with tunes or without tunes, you take em out, put em back in..... its def injector, coilpack, or pump at this point.

Like I said you really need a BT!

It will tell you if a misfire was on all cylinders..... or just one.

If they were on all, its likely its a pump.

If its on one cylinder consistent it narrows it down to injector/coilpack.

problem would still exist with any tune.

up the boost and up the power...injectors are being pushed further than stock and cant keep up so it back fires...so more than likely...get new injectors.

Once its changed it wont misfire or backfire with tune so please Procede guys dont say that it wont happen with the Procede cuz it will.

I have a similar pump experience JP. I threw fuel pump code at the track a couple of weeks ago and had long cranks for a few days. 1 week passes and now I cannot get the sucker to repeat. In fact, my long cranks are gone and the pump seems to be working like a champ. Its bloody annoying.

Nope, switched them out not even 1K miles ago. I just think that it's due to me pushing more boost then normal.

If you do I am sure you will love the Z06, its pretty friggen awesome. Have a look at the GT500 Cobra as well, its stupid fast with a tune and pulley.
