Quick JB3 2.0 to Procede V4 review

Hey guys,
I just switched from jb3 2.0 to Procede v4 and I'm even happier than I thought I'd be with my decision. I'm just going to leave you with a VERY quick review of my findings. Let's begin:

Install:
The Installations are pretty much the same, but the procede youtube videos explaining everything are much easier to understand.
Rating (out of 10):
JB3: 9.5
Procede: 10

Computer software:
The user interfaces are very different. The procede computer software is much easier to use and understand, while the jb3 software is primitive at best. I love how the procede software actually tells you that you are connected to the procede itself, while the jb3 you kind of have to guess that things are hooked up and your communicating with the chip (this was my impression, maybe it was different for others).
Rating (out of 10):
JB3: 5
Procede: 8 (The com setup confused me a bit)

Code reading/clearing + O2 sims:
I love how these are built in to the procede and you don't have to buy "add-ons" to make your chip up to speed.
Rating (out of 10):
JB3: 6 (simply because you have to pay more for these options)
Procede: 10

Auto-tuning:
I haven't tested this out yet because I haven't been able to do and 3rd gear WOT pulls, so I can't comment on this besides saying that it's a sick idea.
Rating (out of 10):
JB3: 5 (only get's these points because it will supposedly have it on the G4 board, but they are still way behind procede)
Procede: 8 (not 10 simply because I haven't tested it yet)

Map Switching/ dash displays:
The map switching is MUCH MUCH better on the procede. On the JB3, you pretty much have to guess what map you are on because you have to use the gas pedal to switch maps (very archaic in my opinion). I love how the RPM gauge actually tells you what map you are on for the procede (VERY cool). Finally, the boost and AFR gauges work awesome and are very conveniently located.
Rating (out of 10):
JB3: 3
Procede: 9

Driving:
This was the best part. When the car was relatively cool, boost was very limited (i don't have exact numbers because i didn't think to remember them at the time), but as the oil temps rose, so did the boost and i did a couple WOT pulls in 2nd gear and max boost was VERY consistent once warmed up (which i really liked). The power felt much smoother, yet very strong. I would even argue that my car felt faster than when I had the JB3 in (and this is without autotuning calibrated).
Rating (out of 10):
JB3: 8.5
Procede: 9

Total score (out of 60):
JB3: 37
Procede: 54

PROCEDE WINS! lol

Disclaimer: I know the ratings are kind of arbitrary, but they can give a general scale to of the superiority of the procede

Gotta agree with you about power delivery, more intuitive datalog grahpics all in one spot (including timing) and map switching that is just fantastic - especially on the fly.

Nice to see someone else who converted and came to similar conclusions.

Enjoy!

i completely agree with your summary. i recently switched from an 18 OHM jb3 to a procede v4. night and day difference in drivability, smooth throttle response, and overall performance. i love the fact that the procede is bypassed until the oil temps increase to operating temps. the boost gauge, automatic dp-fix, and current map display via cruise control stalk are all brilliant extra features IMO.

Yeah, but just wait for G4!

I liked the Procede for the short time I had it, the code clearing/reading features, CAN features, set it and forget it Autotune...and nice power gains were all good stuff.

I think that is a bit inaccurate sir. AFIK only the boost and general tune is bypassed. You may however have noticed the bucking and reluctant transmission operation when cold is now completely smoothed out? Aparently that is the PROCede at work. Oh wait, you live in Texas, you probably have never felt this anyway. People in cold areas know what I am talking about. Now it operates same as when its hot.

thanks, and yea the JB4 will be nice, but all the features it will have are already implemented into the procede, so you'll just be playing catchup lol

maybe you're right. i just remember reading this that shiv posted:

Quote:
Now, we not only start dropping boost levels when oil and coolant temps get uncomfortably high, we also drop boost when the engine is cold. So right upon start-up (on a cold engine), the PROcede isn't even doing anything. As oil temps start to creep above 150F, the tune starts to "ramp in" reaching "full strength" at 190F were it stays until ~250F. Then above that, the tune starts to "ramp out" with it dropping back to stock boost/power by 280F. I think this feature will be very welcome for those who don't have an oil cooler or track their car regularly and see temps teetering in the 260+ range.

The upcoming G4 is pretty awesome. Partial throttle response is instant and with the new adaptive boost control system it hits the target lighting fast every time. Being able to pick maps and dash display options with the steering wheel controls is pretty slick too. You're going to love it.
