I haven't noticed that many complaints lately...could this be it ? The new 933/943 is indeed better ?

Well it may be that or may be the new software "fix" is simply delaying the problem.

For one I have the 981 pump as a replacement unit and so far it's holding well. I do have 2.39.2 software with the pre-priming feature...

Yeah I think it is. I got that version and haven't had anymore issues since.

no, it's not any better. I'm on my third 933 --> 943 --> 933 pump with two times upgraded software... For some reason after 943 pump I got a 933 again.

Please post the work invoice for the benefit of other owners. This is one of the only cases of 933 or 943 failures to date and the first case of multiple failures.

Could be that the dealer you went to get the work done did not check to see if the fuel pressure sensor is doing it's job.

Like the other say, if you don't mind, please post the work orders from both times you got the HPFP replaced.

933 --> 943 ---> 933 remanufactured.

The 933 remanufactured is the current hpfp. I just got my pump replaced last week with the 933 remanufactured.

I just got a new 933 pump today. I'm happy to report that after 16 miles, I have had no issues.

I was used to going through HPFP's every 5-10k miles, but since the last one was put on I have been nearly 20k on it. I was thinking my car was cursed but maybe BMW actually figured out the problem!

Maybe...

Got a Reman 933 and so far so good. But I am not sure I have ever really had a HPFP failure, the dealer just replaced them when I thought there might be a problem. Car does seem to run a bit smoother now though.

Is that a perk for being a moderator on BMW forums

The HPFP on my 535i went kaput last week exactly, the SES stayed on even after multiple restarts so the problem was real not intermittent, towed the car to dealer. The dealer still had to open PUMA and asked permission from BMWNA for new pump, got the remanufactured 933. Car has 22kmiles, will see how long this one will last.

I've only taken delivery of my car for a month but 4,000 miles and no issues.

Just got the 933 pump on my car and I swear the car drives/ idles smoother now. Even pulls harder up top too.
