Poorly done P/S. Old school roots blowers are not very efficient.

It is not a roots. It is an 8.3L Whipple Twin Screw which are pretty good, and make massive power. That blower is use a lot on offshore race boats. It is reliable and makes instant boost and torque that will kick start a planet. Also Top Fuel Dragsters use roots type of blowers. It is because they make big HP. Turbos can not come close to them yet. Top Fuel cars make well over 8,000hp. I have not seen a turbo engine in a car that makes that yet.

From a perspective of aggregate power, yes, superchargers will make the most. By definition they run as an engine accessory, meaning it takes power to make power. This is the what the "efficient" comment is in reference to, not overall HP.

The efficiency argument especially comes into play when gas mileage is of consideration - which I doubt that Charger's owner really cares about.

+1

a standard GM 6-71 roots-type blower is nowhere close to being inefficient.. in contrast the blower (supercharger) reduces the length of the intake tract, and incorporates the injection system -- resulting in a fast-moving, highly pressurized air-fuel charge. although its affected by parasitic loss, with the overall horsepower gain its nominal to say the least.

stand close to a AA fueler when they launch, and see if the ground doesnt shake and feel the pressure blast of exploding 6000+hp instantaneously

oh, I love the smell of nitromethanol in the morning

Does anyone really consider "fuel efficiency" when they buy a sports car, muscle car, or exotic?

Looks like a GM style 6-71 to me. Twin screws are far more efficient than a roots for sure. Currently running a Whipple 2.3L on my Lightning.

It looks silly, but for some reason I smile when I see it, and giggle when they uncork it in the video!
