BMW promotional material

I just got one of these advertising blurbs entitled "Do you remember how you felt choosing your BMW 3 series coupe?"

Obviously, they are tempting you to buy another one since "it's been a while since you bought your last one".

So I sent them a two page letter, covering mainly the spec reductions in comparison with my car, and a little rant at their suspension and tyres just to add to the list.

I don't think I'll get a response... and if I did, they most certainly will not address any of my specific points.

We'll see.

If it makes you feel any better, I've just been browsing the options list of the F10 5-series. It looks like a lot of options have actually got cheaper cf the same thing in a 3-series.

The full stereo upgrade is under £800 plus it has more speakers/better amp than the £900+ 3-series Harmon Kardon stereo.

8-speed auto costs about the same as 6-speed auto in a 3-er.

Standard leather seats

=====

I wouldn't hold out much hope of getting a sensible reply to your letter although if enough people bitch about the spec-reductions in a 3-er then maybe at least BMW will know that people notice.

You've hit my rant button.

In comparing the 320d SE coupe and the 520d SE, the Five is £2k less than the E92 and before, it was £1k less.

The E92 has lost the partial electric seats, the Five has gained them.

The Five has bluetooth as standard.

2 zone ATC is now £300 extra in the Five. Before, it was £595.

The Five still has servotronic, the E92 does not.

The Five now has Professional radio instead of Business.

The new Five series spec has improved substantially and the E92 has reduced substantially and proportionately more expensive.

It does not compute.

why dont you write to your MP also, and bring this situation to his/her attention, as it seems you have a lot of time on your hands

Actually he's in North West England, not New England and I wonder if he would like to qualify or expand upon his original statement?

I was posting for the benefit of my friends on this forum, clearly not for you.

AlanQS - one thing posting on a forum for your mates to read about how you are a tad miffed at the current BMW pricing policy, but another to write BMW Uk a 2 page letter

I don't know, I complained to Coca Cola because I bought a carton of Coke with duff glue and the carton came apart sending cans of Coke rolling down the street, and Coca Cola sent me a cheque for a new carton.

When I get a few moments, I still need to complain about the can of spray on deodorant where the lid was attached too tightly so when I finally pulled it off, it took the spray nozzle with it, which landed in the toilet.

I'm serious, I really complain about this stuff.

a new carton - just the carton and not the cans?

AlanQS - if you get a free new car as a result of your two page letter then I take it all back and it will have been a good use of your time

Nothing on the telly, middle of the evening, I was curious to see if I would get a response. It took 10 minutes to type the letter, no big deal.

I don't you think you get it yet. Coming on and telling someone else they are being stupid - when it's just your - and probably juvenile - opinion ranks of hypocrisy and arrogance in equal measure. If I want to waste 10 minutes typing a letter, I'll bloody well do it.

I'm equally sure you probably occupy much more than 10 minutes doing things that I would consider a trifle odd - but if you posted about it, I wouldn't criticise you in a post. I would keep it to myself.

Something you are not able to do apparently, but... keep digging the hole.

I don't see any problem with writing a letter.

A BMW owner writing to BMW complaining about spec reductions seems like a reasonable thing to me.

Is that the Hovis thing recently where the mouse had got into the packaging?

Alan - Go for it lol. I can well imagine it would only take you 10 minutes to pen a clear and concise letter. We all know be it BMW or others they're all in it to make money but any perceived 'arrogance' on their part towards their customers shouldn't go unnoticed or unpublished imo.
