Some new features in the BMW welcome DVD
Just received the BMW Welcome Pack and watched the DVD disk. It was showing the angel eye DRLs on all models in the film. We are talking full blown AE as DRLs under direct sunlight, no parking light.
Called my dealer, they had no clue what I was talking about, mentioned only the "car key comfort memory setting.". Called BMW USA, even less clue, asked me to call the dealer. So anyone knows what's with this feature? If BMW is showing it in all it's models, someone at BMW must know how to activate them. BTW this is not specific to Xenon lights as the DVD showed both Xenon and standard AE as DRLs. |

Hi,
I have bright AE for my DRL on my 335is. In fact they are almost as bright as headlights - when I come up to a car on the freeway, I often see the reflection of the AE on their bumpers. I tuned on this setting through the iDrive. |

Did you simply activate the DRLs through iDrive, or does your iDrive have a specific option of using the AEs for DRLs?

I activated mine through Main Menu > Settings > Lighting and checked the box for Daytime running lights. (actually all of the boxes were checked under the lighting setting). I'll take a picture and post it soon.

If so this might be the newest feature out of the factory. There have been after market mods for a while but this is the first I noticed they came right out of BMW. |

My car has AE as DRLs, and yes they are yellow'ish not white like the Xenons. It came with this feature turned on from the factory.

Since I don't have Xenon, I am just going to leave the DRLs off from iDrive. |

It seems that half of the people posting here can't discern the difference between BMW Xenon headlights and the newer white LED DRLs that are appearing in the E92/E93 and F10. *sigh*
