Manufacturer Buyback?

Hey guys, I've been searching for THE perfect 07 or 08 E9x and I finally found exactly what I had in mind. It's a 2008 White on Terra E90 335i with 31,000 miles on it with every single option but ACC. The dealer is asking only 27.9k for it however it is a manufacturer buyback that they bought from California. When I asked the reason for the buyback they of course said the fuel pump. I'm really tempted as the price is amazing and the car is everything I want. Would you guys stay away from buybacks or should it not matter?

bump! Need opinions on this situation! I'm also going to take it to BMW and have them inspect it. Haven't looked at the car yet as they're bringing it in from california and won't be here until wednesday.

Garage List
From what I've seen, the cars that have multiple fuel pumps and injectors continue to need multiple fuel pumps and injectors

They're all going to have a pump in their history. Some have one... others have 5 or more. I'm in the same boat as you - looking for a 07 E92 6MT 335. I'll skip the car if it's had 3+ fuel pumps, even though they're not hard to change yourself, and if you can find someone who will hook you up with an employee discount, or large wholesaler, the pumps are only $215 or so.

Buying a buyback?

If you have ever tried to have a manufacturer buy back your really unreliable brand new car.....you will no exactly why this particular car is "Too good to be true." It must have been a real POS, and if it could have been fixed reliably, it would not have ended up getting bought back.

Stay away is my advice!

Are they offering any warranty, or is the car strictly "as-is". I wouldn't buy w/o warranty, maybe even get them to CPO it.

On average BMW bought back a car every single month at my local dealer, could be 135,335 & 535.

well it's an 08 with 30k miles so it has the balance of factory warranty left. I can find others for that price but they dont have navi and they're 07's. Should I just settle for one of those?

How often would you use the nav? I would say get another one. If you buy the buy back and you have issuses then it's on you right?

search buyback or lemon on here and youll see the kind of issues people have before they get fed up and the dealer buys it. the dealer may say its the hpfp but i bet its more than that. why would you want to buy someone elses problem car?

Actually I have to chime in in the opposite direction, I got my 07 328i at 4k discount to KBB because it was mfg buyback for DSC Sensor. The issue was fully repaired and the car has been nothing but a pleasure to drive for the last 9 months. I know HPFP issues are not open-closed like that, but they are warrantied to 100 or 120k by BMW and you are just as likely to have them with any 335, mfg buyback or no. I would be sorely tempted. Good luck!
