2009 E92 335 Power Loss
Guys,
Just had a weird one happen to me today. Car is an 09 E92 335 X-Drive 6MT car. Was driving and noticed that the car was significantly down on power. In other words, it might take 10 or more seconds to pull from 60-80MPH in 6th gear. This happens pretty quickly under normal conditions (stock). What I am surprised about is that the car threw no codes. It seemed to feel as if the turbos weren't boosting at all, but without a BT, I can't really verify that. The car did not buck, shake or make any other indication of any issues other than perhaps driving like a 150HP 335xi instead of a 300HP one. Following the car sitting in the parking garage for a couple of hours, it started up, and drove home perfectly fine with full power. I've been threw coils, plugs, injectors and software upgrades on this car. I'm wondering if this could be yet another clue leading to a HPFP replacement? Does limp home mode feel like this, or is that even worse (from a power standpoint)? Thanks, Ron |

What were the revs at 60 when you tried to pull to 80? If you were essentially coasting at that point it would take some time to spin up the turbos cause they ain't spinning much at low revs.... Did the happen once on the drive or multiple times under different conditions?

Btw, I am not sure that I agree with the coasting statement. 2k rpm is 2k rpm. The turbos are really already primed and ready for action at that rpm level. I could expect way different results trying to lug the car in too high of a gear with RPMs in the teens, but by 2k, it should be instant action time. Took it out again tonight and everything is back to complete normal expectations. Ron |
