So I've got a buddy who wants to race...Opinions needed!
Hey guys. So, I've got a potential drag situation on my hands here. My buddy has a ram srt-10 pickup truck, and he wants to throw down in a drag race to see who's faster. I've got my 335, and so far my mods consist of an injen intake and the jb3. What do you think my chances are of keeping with him, or even taking him? I understand I could probably set the jb3 to one of the higher maps, but Im not exactly sure where to get race fuel either haha. Opinions needed! .
(Btw, for all of you to know this would take place at a drag strip, nothing illegal is being done here)

You do know that's a street truck with the Viper engine in it, right?
I'd say it'll be close. Probably close enough to come down to launch and driver skill. The SRT10 has no weight in the back at all, so you'll probably have the advantage off the line with xDrive.

Why would you abuse your car like that?
Just tell your buddy that his truck is faster and move on. You and the community know that there is much more than straight line speed to a good car. How does the Ram handle on a twisty road? Pretty damn good for a truck, but you'll still be seasick once you get out. |

I'm thinking you will pull him off the line (skill being equal) but he might (might) catch you before the quarter comes up. Let us know how it turns out, and if you gernade your engine, post parts prices on this forum please.

Met up with a srt10 truck with ext and intake not long after I put the JB3 in (probably version 1.3). From a 40 stomp I pulled on him pretty quick. He let off after about 85.

I owned a SRT10 before trading it in for my 335 and the truck is definitely faster than the car no doubt about it. My 335 is stock however so now sure how much the jb3 helps the car but i know my truck would of put a whooping on my car.

Because I've owned both and raced the same people from work in both vehicles and the truck was farther in front of them than when raced them in the 335. No need to try to be a smart ass, I've owned both and driven both it was proven when both vehicles raced the same people under same circumstances thanks for your input tho!

unimpressed in straight line drag races... it's just a matter of looking up figures. Put some bends in and it becomes a matter of skill

On map 5 or 7 its a no brainer. Map 3 he may have a chance but I think youll still win. Ive played with a guy in an srt and they are fast but a tuned 335 is faster.
And for the guy above thats owned both, im not talking stock here. There is NO comparison between a stock and a tuned 335 even running map 3 . Oh and OP: nice name lol I can relate...haha must have 10000 hidden picks in my house over the years somewhere... Last edited by scrufy; 10-03-2010 at 12:42 AM.. |

I've seen a GT500 run 14 seconds already, so straight HP doesn't = fast times. If you are a somewhat decent driver you should win this.
