Software Update for 335is

I took my car in to get some rattles fixed and was informed there was a software update for the car. I decided to let them do it even though the service advisor did not know what it was for. I was noticing the car had poor light throttle response when in "Drive" mode. I was switching on sport mode to get better throttle response. With the software update my "Drive" mode throttle response is much better. Not sure if others have experienced the same but it worked out for me.

any other results besides throttle? how much faster is the response? does it feel like it is a faster turbo response or a faster DCT downshift?

really? i've heard the contrary on a thread posted a few days ago. the OP then stated that the throttle response was significantly limited, and this was mainly because BMW believes the HPFP will last longer this way.

This is for all N54 powered cars. If you have a 2011 you already have the new software.

The improvement in throttle response is off idle only in drive mode. For me I was experiencing poor off idle throttle response. The update was done at Kuni BMW in Portland. I have no idea what the software version was or if it is for older cars. It has not change the DCT shifting as the improvement is in first gear. In general I have not noticed any other difference (read loss of power) this has only been a positive change for me.

I would say faster turbo response as it is off idle so I am still in first gear.

Rattles? Software update on a brand new model?

Doesn't speak well for the 335is.

lol because rattles are unique to the 335is which is clearly built so differently from all the other coupes created prior. /sarcasm

What a silly statement...anything on a 335is that could cause rattles is exactly the same as something that causes it on a 328i and 335i.

And a software update is just that...an update. It's not like a recall, which is actually a bad thing. Moving on...

No, he means software for the engine. Not a DCT update.

Shawn - Kuni would like you to think they're in Portland, they're actually in Beaverton, OR.

Why don't you come see us for your service next time? We'd love the opportunity to earn your business. I'll set you up with someone excellent in our service department.
