help needed! Spare key!
I just bought a used CPO 2006 BMW 325i... but the dealer did not have the spare key with it. Called up the service center and they told me it would cost me $276
I still have spare key adapter in the glove box, so i was wondering if there is a way to get it done without having to pay almost $300! thanks |

?? When I bought my CPO 2006 325xi, it also had one key. I just looked at my CA and said, what, no key for my wife? He just went and grabbed a key and programmed it for the car. Took less than 5 minutes. No charge.

Part of the CPO requirements (from a dealer) is that the car have both keys.

May I ask what the "spare key adapter" is and does my '07 have one?
I miss the old wallet sized "emergency" plastic keys that BMW used to provide and wonder if the key itself (the part that can be removed from the fob) could be purchased separately at a lower cost. Incidentally, my wife just got two emergency keys (without the remote abilities) for her 2010 Ford for a total of $7.00 from her dealer! Tom |

his 325i SHOULD have came with a spare key.
On my CPO 325xi I got 2 keyfobs and the black case for glovebox as well as the spare black key for your wallet made of plastic. They can use you EDGE warranty which was free, you get for one year, and say you lost it, and they should order you another one asap. But if they know of the issue they might not let you do the above, since it might be fraud now? Try another dealer

How can it be a CPO if it didn't come from a dealer?

It's transferable.
OP, I think you're out of luck with the key unless your selling dealer decides to do you a favor.

Thanks for the options... the CPO and maintenance does roll over to me from the previous owner! I have called BMW and verified it. The problem is lost keys may/may not be replaceable under warranty/maintenance package!

Comfort access shouldn't make a difference. I believe comfort access just adds antennas around your car. It's not like a CA key or non CA look different they both communicate wireless-ly with your car.

CA keys are different. Other than CA key having removable batteries while non-CA charges in the ignition, I do not know what else is different, but they are not the same.

You're simply SOL and you should man up and purchase a key. Nobodys to blame but your self, and possibly a shady dealer for not mentioning it. |

I am pretty sure the CPO gets voided if the car is sold via non BMW dealership. However it is indeed transferable if car is a private party sale.
