07 335i getting bored

So bought an 07 about 5 weeks ago done about 2k miles in it. I like it but feels like something is missing from the whole driving experience after doing some miles.

I wouldnt say its the power, or maybe it is??? Do I just need a tune?

I don't want to go down the route of getting an lsd. Only mod I would consider is a tune.

Or do I need an m3 for that "thing" that I feel is lacking?

you probably lack the feel of:

-connected steering; 335 is good, not great
-clutch delay valve disconnects the driver
-turbos are not a naturally or pure driving experience

but what can you do?

themz the breaks.

How are you driving it? In twisty back country roads, only down the M motorways? Mix of the two?

Also, what tires are on the car right now?

To help diagnose your problem, what was your previous car.

That'll be real easy, if you're coming from a superior vehicle this one will feel like its lacking certainly.

Its a coupe and I drive a mix of twisty country roads and urban.

My last car was an evo 8 with basic bolt ons and I feel the 335i is quicker, maybe it's these horrible runflats?

A little suspension work and some new tires should sort you out.

if you feel something is "missing" i doubt it's the runflats. i love my ventus v12s but i remember a LOT more roadfeel with the RFTs. It's probably the steering; i love it personally but have heard evo does it better. i've never driven an evo before so take what i say with a grain of salt.

No, Coupes are for beating Hondas, Sedans are for beating Coupes.

OP:
get yourself a JB3 and golf-tee mod or catback and that car will feel transformed. Maybe think about the suspension after that too...
I can't say enough about the tune though, it really made a difference in feel of the car.

I completely agree, drop a tune in and let er rip! It really wakes the car up and makes it more enjoyable to drive.

Yeh I think thats what im gonna do, every review i'v heard about jb3/procede says it transforms the car.

Does the steering feel so brutaly stiff because of the runflats? I feel its harder to chuck around and stay nimble. Maybe a change to non runflats along with the tune.

I had the runflats on mine for about 3 months, then switched to Nitto INVOs and it made a world of difference. The runflats are very very stiff ride since the sidewall has to support the weight of the car if there is no air in them. They are also a noisy tire which doesnt help with the overall driving experience. I highly recommend the Nitto's, they have a nice aggressive tred look on them and are a softer tire which leads to amazing handling and not nearly as noisy.

I did intake aFe DCI and the JB3 tune. Like the previous posts, it changed my car and really brought it to life...and im only running on MAP3.

Good luck with it and I know the tires will make a difference as will the Tune. I cannot speak for the steering since I came from a GMC Yukon lol.

What more do you want? The car is fast, tune or no tune, amazing steeing feel (I came from a E46M) great brakes, every usable option, handles well. I'm confused??????

Being bored after 5 wks confirms the purchase was a mistake. Financially, even if you are a co-founder of facebook, it's a waste to get yet another new car. imho you make a purchase of this magnitude, even if you're a radiologist, you drive the car 6 or more years, boring or not. And with an '07 335i, better get an extended warranty or start saving $500/mo. for repairs.

I came from an '06 EVO IX MR SE. The EVO with new mapping (modified EIP Stage 2 .hex map) was described by my friend as "violent". Lots of traction, instant acceleration in every gear, just brutal, etc., etc....

The 335 out of the box is a vastly more refined car, even with the sport package but it does muffle and dampen the experience to achieve a more comfortable ride. Adding a JB3 (or tune of your choice), maybe a DCI and an intercooler will make you think of the EVO as a toy. Adding Meth makes things way better. All this and you still have refined handling. Unless you do some suspension mods.

All in all its going to take some getting used to. Just find a used tune first and go from there. It really does transform the car. Reading and searching on this forum will help tremendously. I read everything about power in the turbo section first then went on to read really great articles in the suspension section.

If all else fails and your still bored rob a bank or something and use the 335 as a get away car, that should liven things up a bit.
