Can you play vids on the nav?
anyone know if this can be done? I'm thinking about ripping some music videos and putting them on a DVD. Anyone know if I can have them playing in the car?
Car in question is a 11 335 |

Depends on the year. If it's 2009+ then yes it does but not in motion, only when parked. To activate it you need to contact Patry, do a search.
If you have pre LCI then it doesn't do it. You'll need an aftermarket kit like ModmyNav. Do a search as well, I have it and works flawlessly. |

My 2010 E93 plays DVDs so your 2011 should unless they stepped backwards. BUT, just putting music videos on a disk may, or may not work, due to how the files are formatted. Video files are less standardized than music files and I'm not sure what file formats and codecs are compatible with the BMW player. My suggestion would be to match the file formats/codecs similar to a standard DVD. I'm sure if you try a few you'll find something that works.
If you want them to play while you are in motion, you have to install a mod to bypass the safety lockout (TVinMotion

Can you explain? "To activate" what? Out of curiousity, I did a search on "Patry" and go no matches.

Eh...to each his own. I thought it was cool too but have never used it. It's just too damned hot in FL to sit in your car and watch movies. However, if I were in a cooler climate, I'd be sitting in my car at lunch watching movies.

Yeah, I don't recommend it, unless you just want to unlock the feature for the sake of it or for passengers. While it looks nice, I-drive is pretty distracting on it's own.

Another option to release it is SmartTV but I have not used it to know how well it works. The rest of their products work as described perfectly so I have no doubt this one will too. Their customer support is GREAT !!

Sorry, you can look for user Patrys. There's a module being sold called TV-in-motion which will unlock the video capability while the car is moving. For around the same price though you can contact Patrys and he can log into your iDrive remotely using your computer and deactivate the lock while in motion. At the same time he can also change other things like corner amber lights off (euro lights), close windows/sun roof from remote control (not just open like US version), etc. No need to disassemble anything and no issues with dealer for warranty, it's just through software.
