Search the forums for high pressure fuel pump (HPFP). Won't take you very long to figure out the issue. Allso find out if the car is CPO or not.

I'd also check out 08s. Probably $4-5k more, but one more year of warranty and less miles.
A 07 with 51k miles doesn't meet CPO criteria, and factory warranty already expired. Unless it's the deal of the century, best to stay away. |

The car isn't CPO .. So, will the hpfp get infect with age?
and guys, do you know how much will it cost to fix the hpfp in the dealer service if the car is out of warranty ? the thing is, i cant go to something really expensive and i liked the car. i'm gonna test drive it tomorrow. as long as there is just the hpfp problem, i bet that the car worth it even if it has 51k, right ? i'm really confused, lol |

The HPFP problem affects cars with all mileages, some have had 2-3 put on the car. As mentioned above though the pump has an extended warranty from BMW so you won't have to pay for it, however having that kind of trouble can cost you time and headaches.
No one will be able to answer the "should I buy question" for you. But if you are really stretching to make the payment on the 335 then you should use caution buying one out of warranty. BMWs out of warranty can be expensive; you may want to buy a Bentley manual for the E90 and attempt some repairs yourself or possibly look into a 328 that doesn't have quite as many issues.

to my knowledge, the HPFP is such a big problem, the NABMW issued a mandate that allows you to get it repaired out of warranty, can someone confirm this?
my 07 hasn't had any problems other than the HPFP. Drives well and maintenance is easy. I would recommend a CPO though, takes a lot of headaches away. |

My criteria when buying my 335i:
- no previous hpfp issues - has factory installed oil cooler Other than that, take a long test drive. Put the car through all its paces. Oh, and pre-purchase inspection will be the best $150 you spend on the purchase. |
