Considering you already have the same body style in an M3, why not consider something more "luxurious" for an alternate car? I personally wouldn't buy both an E92 335 and E92 M3 in the first place...

This is a ridiculous statement.
335: 4 seats luggage room (quick and practical) SL: 2 seats, but a hard top vert, little luggage room (not practical) Porsche: seats/luggage room (slow but practical if it's what you want) I'd Keep the 335i, or get a SL55 :P

Just my taste. I'll admit the Cayman and Boxster are great cars, but they don't scream Porsche to me.

I would not trade in a 335i for either of the cars the OP suggested.
Truthfully, as I see a 3er as a daily-driver car, I don't know that I'd trade it in on anything but a similar sort of car...for me that'd perhaps be an A4 or VW GTI (if cargo room is a priority). But I don't frankly think those are better cars than the 3er, so that's why I have a 3er. Each of us likely has our own definition of "daily-driver." For me, it means reasonably priced, reasonably fuel efficient (eg, about 20 mpg), not flashy, room for 4 on short hops, room for groceries, dry cleaning, and other stuff, a car I won't mind if other folks ding my doors or I get chipped paint in places, a car I don't care if it's not always spotlessly clean, comfortable, fun to drive and durable enough to last for at least 10 years if I decide to keep it that long.

Honestly, neither of those cars appeal to me, even tho I think they are a little flashier than the 335 coupe.

SL500 is 6hp faster than the 335i, and 2 cylinders more inefficient. 306HP from a V8 is terrible, and is also terrible on mileage. Nice little car, though.

sl500?
I put 5 cl's on my cousin's sl550 everytime i see him and with every ( fairly cheap) mod i do to it it grows even further. the porshce is redonkulous why even think of that crap ass ride. Id go 997 or nothing now thats a real porshce The sl is fat, slow, out dated and played out. You have so much more room to play with in your 3 and its much more practical.
