horsepower question

I know that BMW underrates the n54, but how much horsepower does it really make? i see dynos all the time saying 315,330,etc. Do they all make a consistent number all the time or is this production variation?

Any multitude of things can influence dyno numbers (dyno, weather, mileage, heatsoak etc) but N54 WHP seems to be pretty solidly in the 270-280ish range

Yes, that's wheel horsepower. Calculating drivetrain loss is imperfect but 15% is often used as a ballpark, putting flywheel HP (very roughly) around 310-325

I was looking at my garage and I only see the R8 with that plate, what else have you seen? BTW, I had to check my files, and you are right, its been on quite a few of my cars! Both the Black and Red AMV8's, Porsche Cayman S, my first 335i, and Mer CLS.

And yes, the R8 is by far my favorite car to date.
