Do your wipers flutter and bounce when..
they reach their lowest (rest) position? Mine do and I find it really annoying. Anyone know how to stop this? It seems that the wipers really don't make contact with the window (especially the passenger one) near their ends.

Have you applied Rain-X? I found that after I did that the first few rains they "bounced" at the end like yours do, then it went away.

If it's when they are off, they might not have put them on in the right position, so that they are turned up more, and are catching wind. They usually fit on a spline on the wiper shaft, and if were put on a tooth or so out, then they would sit higher.... |

No, mine do not. Clean your blades and windshield really well then see what happens.

...YES! Mine do this very same thing and its very very annoying. I've changed the wiper blades (not just inserts), polished the glass with a porter cable buffer and Zaino glass polish, I've cleaned the blades edge with alcohol pads and wiped them completely clean. While this solves it temporarily... one day in the rain and it comes back. Either there's a lot of pollution in the air around the Bay or there's something wrong with the bmw wipers. There has to be someone else with this issue and some sort of fix-it.

Mine do too, and the wiper inserts are brand new. Maybe my windshield is too old? It is pock-marked, but short of never driving, that seems to be par for the course with bmw glass.

If you clean brand new fresh out of the box blades, you'll notice a whole lotta black coming off of them. That's the first thing I do when I get new ones, adn I clean them regularly, and I don't have the "skipping problem" at all

Have you tried CLAYING your windshield to remove old bug guts, then rainx the windshield. That should do the trick. Also how hard is the rubber on the blades? Do you live in a sunny climate? Maybe the UV rays have hardend the rubber - hence the skipping.

Mine will only bounce when there is little rain water on my windshield. If it is raining pretty good outside it will just glide across.

Thanks for the replies...
I see I'm not alone on this and that I didn't explain
the situation clearly. If you just use the wipers to wash the windows all is fine. But in a steady rain, when the wipers are working continuously, that's when they start bouncing toward the bottom of their travel. They also get noisy at that time and sound like you're hitting a cardboard box with your hand every time the wipers go down. Hope you guys who don't have this issue keep it that way! I clean my blades with rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab. Also just complain to your dealer as they are covered under your maintainence so replacement is free.

I found that my wipers bounce AFTER I put othe rainx. They were fine before but I heard a lot of good things about rainx so i decided to give it a try. Applied it exactly as instructed and now whenever it rains my wipers bounce and sound horrible. Dealer even gave me new wipers and same thing. It seems like before the wipers just glided over the glass without a sound but now it seems the rainx is almost causing too much friction. I don't think it is the blades at all. I guess I will try using a clay bar to get everything off the glass
