Question 320i vs. 323i

Has anyone ever compared the 320i (4 cylinder in Australia) with the 323i (6 cylinder) E90s? I'm wondering if the price difference justifies the extra power etc.

I also read that the 323i uses the same engine as the 325i but the difference is in the tuning. The 325i is tuned for more performance. How hard/costly would it be to tune a 323i to the same output as a 325i?

The problem seems to be in the primary catalyst which is different from the 325i in Europe. I think that you guys have both the 323i/325i so it would be interesting to compare the primary catalysts. Here, some removed it (I don't know how) and gained a lot of ponies (it is surely illegal). There are companies that will refresh the ECU, but it is not quite cheap. My advice; live with that power and have a performance exhaust (BMW or else). The point is not more power, but the fun of driving it is much increased.

Are you thinking of a new car or a secondhand car? If secondhand, find some extra cash and get a 325i

The problem with the 323i is that it has the same fuel consumption of the 325i even though it is less powerful and is not any more powerful than the 320 diesel.

2nd Hand car for sure... just that here in OZ all BMWs are very expensive. I can wait another year but like to do my research early.

Example: At the BMW dealership I saw a 07 323i for $38k. A 325i 05 for $39k
