Car anxiety

I keep on having car anxiety. I have a 2006 BMW 325i and everyday I wake up fearing that something may go wrong (not another $2k repair). I thought about selling off my car and getting something else but then I get worried that I am gonna be paying a lot for a car that is gonna depreciate a lot the next year. Then the new model is coming out next year and that will be the cool thing then but it will be more expensive.
How do you all deal with car anxiety? My friends tell me that everyone who likes car gets car anxiety.

See your doctor?

It's a car, enjoy it. Leave it at that. If things like depreciation and repairs bother you so much, a 5yr old BMW probably isn't the car for you, even though 325/328s do seem to be relatively reliable

Not my call, but if you're worried about repair bills, I wouldn't recommend anything german

You can always buy a Civic.

That said, why don't you find yourself a good independent mechanic and have them check your car over. At that point you can decide if there is anything that they've found that you consider major.

The 325/328 is quite reliable so if you put your car on the same schedule as your dentist (a check every 6 months) then you should easily get 200k+ miles from your car

If you wanna drive German, than lease. I am also starting with this car anxiety thing now that my 07 335 is paid off, I have 6 months of warranty remaining and as you may have seen my other posts, I have been having electrical issues with it. I bought mine used but maybe I should have just spent less money and bought a Subaru or Acura. Those still come with a manual transmission and I could have invested the rest of my money to buy some stock. But now, driving most anything else but a 335 would feel slow so I can't go back. Buy a new Hyundai. 10yr, 100,000 mi warranty. Then you can sleep and not worry. I'll stick with my Bimmer and live with the "anxiety". It's far outweighed by the enjoyment of the drive!

Hyundai Genesis.
Acura RSX.
Subaru WRX Sti.
Lexus IS350.
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR.

All will give you a nice experience, and should be quite reliable. Well, I'm not sure about the Evo and WRX....

I thought you meant the anxiety you feel when you leave your baby in a parking lot!

I ALWAYS feel a bit of anxiety when I go back to my car in a parking lot

Other than that...forget about it....cars will always lose money and there will always be the latest and greatest model coming around the corner.

Learn to love what you have, and drive what you have, and worry about changing that when you have enough money to make a change easily.

Comparing the repair bill on your likely-reliable older BMW to the depreciation hit new owners take during the first 2-3 years of ownership reveals the true costs of a warranty.

That said...1 month in...my car still has a new car smell . . .so I will continue to pay to play on new cars!

Most of the depreciation is already done

What would it cost you to buy something else new and would you be as happy driving it . It looks to me like you are already through the worst of it no time to worry now.

You bought a German car, there are always going to be expensive issues that creep up, even VWs are afflicted with that problem. All cars depreciate to some degree, 3 series BMWs seem to retain their value better than other models. But without the aid of a crystal ball, it's impossible to predict what will happen a year or two down the line. You have a great car, get out there and enjoy it. If you want to be free of the worry of depreciation and repair costs, there are plenty of used cobalts floating around out there.

I think people on here ask some of the dumbest questions??

Should I put air in my tires?
Should I drink soda in my car?
AW with black or AW with Coral?
WHat tint should I get?
Should I buy a new car?
I have 4 kids coupe or Sedan?

I know I'm new so sorry if I offended the old timers!
