1M cabrio speculation

If the 1M sells well and is popular, what are the chances BMW will do a cabrio? From the renderings done here, I think the car would look great topless.

If the 1M sells well you will see all options open up, I have no doubt. Not sure if a cabrio will be seen this side of 2014 though. DCT, maybe in 2012, big maybe, things can change with demand.

Where did you see the cabrio renderings Mike?

It's just too late for the 1M cabrio. If things go will, we can hope for an F2x 1M cabrio.

Best regards,
south

It's not as late as you think...
The 1er Cabrio is in contract until 2013. And they have built two Cabrio prototypes... As a cabrio the 1er has a very solid structure with no body flex. And such attributes are desired by M.
We are in wait and see mode.

When official announcement of 1M Coupe it will determine whether demand will stay , increase or falter when the full specification is known.
If the Coupe sells out then you will see a Cabrio , It all depends on sales response.

ehhh. I'm not commuted to this car. It's good news but I might aswell keep my post lease and mod it than wait an extra 2 years for something that still might not happen

just because a prototype is built doesn't mean the car will exist. The M8 was one of these cars

+1. Not for DCT, and not for a 1er cabrio vert. 99% chance it will happen in F23 form, but very doubtful in the current generation.

Add 6K to the 1M coupe and it sounds like near 60K to me. No hope and foolish to speculate as such.

Well, it looks like the coupe is going to sell out, should I be putting an order in for a cabrio?

Lets just say that we are not finished with the 1M as yet.
And we have some options on the negotiating table.

Of course there will be a second generation , the current car convinces your head aswell as your heart that it is something unique , highly individual and is a great showcase for the next generation of M car especially when you consider that the M "rule book" is thrown out.

But you have to consider the fact that just as today in regards to the E36 and E46 they make entry level access into the M Brand for younger enthusiasts and in a few years the 1M will do the same for that demographic .
So we have to think about the longetivity of the car in terms of the customer and to increase the car's appeal for future enthusiasts which some younger M entry enthusiasts are more adapt in "personalisation?" . The current car might have an extremely short lifespan but that car will still be around in the future.

Scott, my order's going to be sent in soon. Please confirm whether blue is absolutely not going to happen in this generation in North America, whether it be 2011 or the highly speculated 2012 extended year. Thanks very much.

Vert = heavier, less chassis rigidity, and although you will be tan you will also be a poser.

The 1M is said to be the end of the 1 Series. Likely to be replaced by the 2er then later an M2. The hope is it will get it's bloodlines from the 1M. Unfortunately like all cars the M2 is likely to be larger and heavier than the 1M, yet with more HP.

It's all speculation at this point but this is the mostly likely successor to the 1M. Remember the 1M is a 1 year car only, no chance of a convert or blue color.

1M CSL? Say it is so Scott! I will keep the normal 1M as a daily driver and buy the CSL for track. Please BMW, please do it! I am happy to pay 50% more if you apply some of your recent lightweight thinking, along with more power.

Will these be retrofit, dealer accessory type things or will I have to sell my brand new 1M to get it?

My car will go into production in a few weeks so time is running out.

Changing your car from VO to AW have anything to do with it or is there more?

Cheers

Mark
