Do I need the dealer to activate bluetooth?
Hi there,
I just got a bluetooth compatible phone and wants to know if it requires the dealership to activate the bluetooth service, or can I activate the servce myself? In the owner's manual, it says that I "can get information about activating the potable phone in the separate Owner's Manual for the Full Preparation Package Cellphone." Is it true? Also, anyone has a pdf copy of this manual? Thanks in advance. Kenny

nope. you can do it yourself. its very easy. push the idrive button in. go to communication settings, then to bluetooth. then it should say "bluetooth active in this screen" or soemthing like that. and thats where you pair them. if you have ever paired anything before, its very easy. go through your phone settings, and "find" your car. then enter a passkey in the phone. then enter it in your car. its pretty easy

Hmmm. after I pressed down Communication on iDrive. It displayed a message "Please activate phone." I then turn on my phone and make sure that bluetooth is on, and do a find device, but it did not come back with anything...
Any idea? BTW, the phone I have is the Sony Ericsson T610/T616 with AT&T/Cingular as carrier, which is on the compatible phones list from BMW... Thanks. Kenny
