Thumbs up Valencia Orange Metallic 1///M render by Jon Sibal

source: autoguide.com

Quote:
Why wait for the official unveiling of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe at the Detroit Auto Show four months from now when you can see it now – thanks to the artistry of Jon Sibal. Designed using BMW teaser images, spy photos and some insider information we’ve been told that this rendering is very close to the real thing.

Shown in a stunning Valencia Metallic Orange the front bumper mimics that of the E92 M3 but with sharper angles, while the fender vents are larger than on previous M cars, helping to accentuate the flared fenders. The side skirts are also similar to those found on the M3, but again are more angular. Also of note is a slightly raised hood, black (Shadowline) kidney grille slats and a ducktail rear spoiler.

And perhaps most exciting is news of a carbon fiber roof, although this item may get cut as BMW tries to cut costs in an effort to make the car as affordable as possible.

Other items of note include white LED angle eye headlights, as well as M3 Competition 19-inch wheels with M3 brakes.

As for the engine, BMW is still mum on that aspect, but its believed to be a modified N54 turbocharged inline-six making around 350-hp.

Great job

Let's hope the front lights are as per Jon's rendering and not the standard model

Just one tiny little thing...........why black grill slats but chrome grill outer edge? Is it not all black or all chrome?

Beautiful! Really outstanding.

I notice some slight differences between Jonsibal's and Alpine's renders. The bonnet raise on Jon's being the main one. Will be interesting to see which is closer!

Both.. jaw droppingly amazing though!

I really hope it turns out this way...the carbon fiber roof is a must ! (if not, just wrap the roof in carbon fiber vinyl )

Looks fantastic. The wheel gap may be a little tighter than realistic from the factory, but this is a superb job.

The posing argument again? Really? I've had to deal with you trolls before so many times before it's not even worth it anymore.

Would you trash somebody for liking a manual transmission? No? Good so don't trash me for my choice

Seriously, you guys must be like children if you think open air sports cars are something new or for posing. You get the best thrill with a top down - the best ever rides I had were in a Caterham and a 427. The latter now being my all time dream car.

Convertibles are a great way to experience some of that action in a daily driver.

The thing I don't like about many new convertibles is the hard tops - they really do add too much weight. Soft tops are definitely the way to go.

Sorry but I don't see the purpose of so much weight and body flex added to a true sports car on purpose. Why should they bother ? The car will be slow and handle poorly. This is not what they intended with the 1M.

the 1 series isn't a sports car! It's a very fast gt. A sports car is a cayman or a Z4MC

And have you driven a vert made in the last 10 years? They are very quick

Soft top it and problem solved. They can be quicker too - this car is like the M3, a daily driver sports car with track credibility. It's not a track car though - the only track cars BMW make at the moment are the GTS, M3/Z4GT2's. You definitely won't buy a track car for 50k US.

I do admit if you're going to track a car more than use it as a daily driver, then you probably would want a car either designed as open air or go for the coupe version. But be real - 99% of us want this 1M as a daily driver, get it out in the open and let loose. I can't speak for the Americans, but over here taking a trip to the Ring isn't a weekly thing, it's a big deal, you plan for it and make the trip when time allows, lucky if you go twice a year. More than that and you probably are lucky enough to live nearby.
