No clue where the SE location is, the one downtown on 10th is easy to miss.

The Route is a senic cruise basically. Not the most epic twisties in the world, but should still be fun, relatively curvy in spots and scenic.

Starts at HPF, Cross over to Vancouver, go out SR-14 through the gorge, cross back over into Hood River, then head Hwy 35 over to HWY 26, back through Government Camp, Sandy, and back to PDX.

Just a loop around Mt Hood.

I just got a peak at the vendors that are going to be donating some prizes... This should be COOL!

Here's a sneak peak of who's onboard to donate prizes so far:

  • Horsepower Freaks
  • ProTek Automotive
  • Pacific Motorsports
  • Boyd Motorwerks
  • Musicar Northwest
  • Bavarian Autosports
  • Safe Drives
  • Pelican Parts

Hopefully more to come!

Griot's Garage is now on as a sponsor and they have donated 3 of their car care kits to the prize pile!

Also, remember that the VIP parking spots will be first come first served unless you pre-register and pay in advance. It'd be a bummer to have your car all ready to show and not have a parking spot in the VIP section with the closed off street...

I just talked to Chris at HPF today and it looks like he's going to try to drum up a little bit of swag to give away.

We've also got some car care products from Meguiars on the way, and word has it that Rassmussen BMW is also going to look and see what they can dig up for some more items for our drawings.

I managed to make a schedule change so will meet up with you guys at HPF before 11:00 on Saturday! Bringing a friend who drives a MB, but - like me - loves German cars in general.

Someday we should take the backroad from Lewis & Clark State Park on the Sandy by I-84 to ZigZag; it follows the Barlow Trail and is a great motorcycle ride....so would be a blast with the cars as well.

That's how I find most of my good driving roads. I do them on the sportbike first!

Well, there are some great roads we should ride to scout out for the CCA! There are, as you wisely noted, some big differences in dealing with a car cruise versus a motorcycle ride, e.g. left turn to that viewpoint of Mt. ST. Helens would've been a bit risky with so many cars and that curve vs motorcycles. Looking forward to tomorrow! Weather is suppose to be perfect!!

Update for those planning on going on the drive. The BMW CCA Oregon club president Brian Cone volunteered to lead the drive (since I can't be on that portion of the event myself). He tweaked the route a bit and is incorporating some stops as well as a place for lunch). We will have all the info and route sheets at HPF Saturday.

Looks like Brian's Route is:
  • HPF
  • 205 to SR-14
  • Quick Break at Beacon Rock
  • Cross Bridge of the Gods ($1.00 toll)
  • Eat at Charburger Country in Hood River (1 hour)
  • I-84 west to Exit 35, historic hwy
  • Pass by Crown Point
  • Get on Corbett Hill road to go back to I-84
  • Back towards Blitz Ladd

So sorry if any of you were REALLY wanting to do the longer loop around Mt Hood. But it should be good times still and good roads/scenery.

See ya tomorrow at Horsepower Freaks and Blitz Ladd.

Sounds like a good change, considering the time at HPF might extend a wee bit and the Hood Loop - though a nice ride or drive - can be done another time. Looking forward to it!

VIP Parking Spots are filling up!!! I'd estimate that we only have 10 or 20 VIP spots left...

I sent in my $15 and I've got my parking spot covered!

Remember, you don't HAVE to be judged if you want a premium parking spot. And if you want to come you can still attend and park on the street (urban Portland Street parking, so you're on your own for that).

Raffle tickets will be available for $1 each and we have some sweet prizes on deck.
Bring extra money for the raffle, proceeds go to charity. Don't forget to bring canned food, as there are a lot of people in need during these trying economic times.
