There's plastic screw right on top of the headlight. Clockwise turns down and counter-clockwise up.

It's supposed to be pointing down. If it points straight forward, you'll blind oncoming drivers...

No, no and NO!

If a headlight suddenly goes out of alignment it means that there is something wrong. Adjusting the screw will not fix the underlying issue and will make correcting it that much harder.

The OP probably hit a pothole and the headlight went into the "I'm broken, so I'll point down so I won't blind oncoming traffic" mode.

The car needs to go to a dealer.

As we suspected, the OP did have a bad headlight - probably caused by a pothole.

Even if it just a "simple" adjustment then it still needs to go to a shop. Nobody can align a headlamp properly without proper equipment - the "25ft away from a garage door" method doesn't work correctly and you will blind oncoming traffic.

I hit a pothole a few days ago and i punctured my tyre but worse off, my headlight moved to sit about 35 degrees upwards from it's original position. it almost looks as if it has been "bumped" out of it's casing.
would adjusting the headlight height via the screws help or would it be best to take it into the dealership?

thanks!

On two occasions last week, I encountered E92's where the right side light was pointing up. I figured the owners/leasees didn't even know. The one that was behind me was very annoying, kinda like those cars that have the bright blue replacement bulbs. It prompted me to look at my own car--doesn't seem to be like that as I looked from a distance, as well as shining the lamps on the garage door.

NO, NO, and NO! My dealer adjusted the lamps and I was blinding oncoming traffic. I adjusted using the correct method and all is good now, confirmed by others in staged 2-lane passing manuevers with an aqcuaintance in another vehicle.

What "equipment" are you referring to?

Just because your dealer misaligned your headlamps doesn't mean that you can do it accurately with a garage door.
