2007 335i OR 2011 335is?
I'm really torn over what to do here. I currently have a 2007 335i lease that ends soon. My options are to buy the car or get into a new lease. If I buy I'll probably get it for 30k CPO'd and it has low miles, 28k. My other option is a 335is since I do not like the new 335i. But a 335is configured the way I want it is 58k MSRP.
If I lease the 335is I'm worried about a multitude of things. My current 335i is not reliable by any means. If I get the 335is I think I would be in the same boat since it's practically the same car. Issues that scare me are HPFP, wastegate rattle, injectors to name a few. I only plan on keeping my car for 3 years before moving on especially with the M1 coming out next year which I think would be my next ride. So what do you think is my best option? Should I just buy out my 335i and then sell it after 3 years or should I just lease a 335is for 3 years? |

I had the same decision a month ago...
These decisions are always tough because you're pitting financial sensibility vs emotional happiness. From a financial perspective, there is no doubt buying the current lease is the better move. Even after factoring the cost of CPO'ing the car, your monthly finance payment will be less than the 36 month lease. Not to mention the fact that you're leaving money on the table if you turn-in the current lease, having already paid for an additional 8,000 miles of depreciation you've yet to use. Lastly, once you factor in the fact that '07 will depreciate less in years 4-6 than it did in years 1-3, you'd more than likely experience a much less overall cash outlay vs re-leasing an '11 if you were to sell/trade the '07 335i when the time comes to upgrade to the M1... That all said, I said screw it and went with the '11... emotional happiness - 1, financial sensibility - 0... |

If the M1 that is coming out next year is your next ride... Why loose more money leasing the '11 to change it again in a short time? Keep your ride, it's cheaper and you can mod it. Then when the time comes (which is coming soon) you'll have a little more cash for the M1. No need to spend more for an in-between car.

I just bought back my leased 07 328i at a discount. I didn't get CPO either. (I don't think it will help on a low mileage 328i.) I could have gone for another lease of a new 328i, but decided to buy the one I already have.
I am not too concerned with the look difference pre/post LCI, and given a bunch of other items that came on my 07 are now options that one needs to pay for, or they are no longer in the car (cost cutting)... I didn't see a reason to 'upgrade' to a newer model. I had already paid for 3 years of depreciation on this car, and since it is still like a new car to me, I decided to keep it. |

Already asked about extending the lease, not possible unless you want to pay a ridiculous amount. |
