idrive welcome sound: 2 dings vs 3 dings

Sometimes when I get into and start my car, idrive welcomes me with 2 dings. Other times, it does 3 dings. I have not yet figured out the significance of the number of dings. Any thoughts?

I have noticed, however, that sometimes the passenger seatbelt butler activates even if no one (and no thing) is sitting in the passenger's seat. Is this defect related to the dinging?

if your seatbelt isnt buckled that gives you 2 i think.

Hmmm... the only time my iDrive goes "bling" is when there is a warning/alert indicator in the dash. 37degrees.... "bling" Fuel Reserve..."bling bling" No Seat Belt...."BLING BLING BLING BLING BLINGBLINGBLIGNBLIBNBLGBLBLBGGGGGGGSOMEBODYTURNOFF THEDAMNBLINGBLINGBLINGBING"

I get two for the "buckle your seatbelt" warning, then sometimes one more in the mornings, if the temp is 37F or lower.

You just need to do three things: move to a warmer climate, fill up more often, and buckle your seatbelt. See, no more "blings".

Unless you have a "Sean John" customized BMW which is so full of bling it can't move.....

every time there's a message waiting for you, it "blings." as everyone mentioned, that can be low on fuel, cold outside, service overdue, seatbelt, oil, etc. etc.

Wouldnt there be a message on my idrive if there was something additional it was dinging about? Nothing shows up on idrive or the instrument cluster except the "Seatbelt" sign.

There will be the yellow icon in the cluster and a message on the bottom of the display. When cleared both go away. Persistant ones will show up in the Service menu in the 'I menu.' The Fuel Reserve one will keep coming back more frequently and be very perisitant the closer you get to "0" miles left. (That's what happens when the wife spends all your money :'( )
