Dynoed my coupe!

Had a chance to throw the car on the dyno today. It's amazing how quick torque comes on with these cars.



Since I just finished breaking the car in, the dyno was the first chance I had to run the car to redline. Let the mods begin!

Those are some strong stock numbers. How did you break your car in? What School of thought did you use?

Great numbers! I hit the dyno today as well, but not in my 335i. I took my '86 944 Turbo to make sure the A/F was good. Put down 253rwhp/290rwtq. It has a chip and catless pipe. Chips (tunes/programs/etc) are just insane on turbo cars!!

That's subjective IMO. Some say to push it hard to help the rings seal better. Some say to follow the manual and the rings were already sealed well from the factory.

This is OT, but we can continue this discussion in the correct thread. Shortly, I did not find good enough non-synthetic oil easily enough, I thought what the heck, I don't care if my piston rings do not seal as well as they could. Some unnecessary burn of oil and its only the fourth owner who will miss the engine longevity addition after the half a million miles. And the loss of a couple of bhp due to unproper sealing of the rings cannot be noticed anyway. (You would need to have real good quality non-synthetic.)

I used the same break in I've used on all my cars and engines I've built over the last couple of years.

Total Miles: 600
Rev Limit: 5k until 600 miles then the full range
Driving: Varying RPM and load, lots of deceleration in gear
Oil: No changes

I put 600 miles on it in 3 days, almost all of them in the Malibu Canyons. I just went driving for 2 hours after work. The canyons work great for break in as it really varies your RPM and load and allows a lot of deceleration (which I believe really helps the rings seal).

mine is broken in as well. 900 miles on the clock!

Dan I want to dyno my car stock first as well.

I used a slightly different break in method. I put about 100 miles on it and then drove it like i normally would.

can we set up a dyno time for me soon, to do a little comparison.

Also, Dan did you get a manual or auto... knowing you im sure you got a manual.

With all my cars and bikes, I always took it for a run through the mountain roads on the first day Where do you go in the LA area? Palomar?

Do you already have plans for performance orientated mods to your 335?

Dont you think that decelaration causes increased damage to the car, due to the extra "force-load" applied to gearbox/clutch during decelarating??

I'd never thought that this could somehow be good for the engine.

The only thing that i can think its good for is to save the brakes
