No Canadian price change for E92 but minor one for E90.

So i'm in Montreal and well Canbec wasn't open today.
From speculation around this forum i was lead to believe that interest rates and residuals would change come January 1rst 2007.
So i decided to call a Bmw dealership in Vancouver and he told me that for the E92 the interest rate 6.9% and the residual has not changed...
For the E90 though the interest rate has dropped to 5.9% and i forgot to ask about residual...
I'm getting my E92 at the end of the month and it really sucks because i had hoped something would change... Oh well i guess i'll be paying what i intended to when i signed the docs 3 months ago...
Hope this info helps.
And i guess www.bmw.ca will reflect the changes tomorrow on their website.

Good info. I am supposed to be getting my e90 delivered this week, and I fully intend to benefit from the one percent off the posted rate.

Good for you Bimmerista.
At least you'll be saving a little bit of cash.
And since you haven't received your car yet then the dealership is obligated to give you the new rate...
Enjoy.

Thanks....I just hope that BMW didn't fudge the residual so that the end payment ends up the same. We'll see.

Ya that might be the case.
But it's only 6:30pm in Vancouver now so maybe you should give them a call and see what's up...
I know i would.

Wow,

If so, then the best ythat could have happened to me is NOT to have had my car delivered for December 29th - on the day of supposed delivery the dealer called to let me know that they could not do it, bcs the car would only get to Mtl on December 31st.

This could be huge, one percent off the interest rate can amount to $30 per month less

The thing is for 328 they dropped the residual from 64% to 62% so the monthly payment for 36 term is lower now by 4 dollars....
Big change, hah?

I redid my "build it" on BMWca website and I come out 35-50 dollars per month less with the new lower rate. I think it is not $4 but rather $40 difference.

I will know more tomorrow.

I've been watching this closely as I need to lease a replacement for my Volvo, before the end of March (auto lease factors run in calendar quarters but their "Year-end" doesn't finish until Jan. 2nd so Jan. 3rd is the date for most manufacturers)

It will likely be an E92 328i. I'd like to get an E92 335i, but I'm on an E90 328i budget

Anyway, Alex/Bimmerista, for a 36 month lease using 20,000 km/yr (that appears to be what you were using and is what I'm be looking at), I see slightly different residual %'s than you've mentioned (60% for E92's, E90 335i, 61% for E90 323 and 62% for E90 328i), on BMW.ca under "Build your own". When I click on Leasing and divide the residual by the MSRP on say an E92 328i, I get:
$26,160 / $43,600 = 60% Am I missing something? Any amount I can reduce the monthly payments / down payment by will put me closer to a 335i.

Also a drop in the residual value increases the monthly payment if all other factors remain equal. All the configurations I saved last night are now $5-$15/mth more. My mildly optioned E92 328i (Space Grey, beige leatherette with Walnut trim and Telephone/Bluetooth) went up $12/mth. A similarly equipped E92 335i went up $13/mth.

Bimmerista, how'd your payments go down? I'd love to be able to get that kind of drop. Were you using 36 months? 20k/yr? or something else?

Regards, Alan

It might sound strange, but from what it looks right now bmw.ca are updating different components on their web sites continiously (not at once).
Alan, you might want to try clearing your Internet cache, as no matter which model/configuration I played with the numbers were always lower, not by much though.
Here is a breakdown for base E90-328:
-------------------------------------
MSRP $41,000
Leasing $596/mo
(excl. Taxes)
Financing $952/mo
(incl. Taxes)

Type Lease (20,000 KM/year)
Downpayment $0
Trade-in $0
Term (months) 36
Province ON
Rate 5.90%
Residual Value $25,420
Monthly Payment $596/mo

That comes up to 25,420/41,000 = 0.62
Monthly payment for 323 was affected a bit more since its residual wasn't as high as 328.

Alex

but the E90 335 and all E92's still come in at 60% for me. Are you getting a higher residual than the 60%, or did I misunderstand what you were saying.

Ok so i was at my dealer today and here's the situation on the E92.
The residual has dropped 1%.
So indeed the monthly payments will be higher.
But for people like me who are waiting for the delivery of their car the price that was agreed on at signing still stands.
Sorry i didn't go into any details for E90's.

I used the BMW site to configure my car - jet black, Terra leather, Sports Package, with $2000 down (to build-in the discount I got and the fact that my lease is a low-low mileage - less than 20K - lease). I came up with a number that with tax was $35 less than the monthly I signed up for in October.

But the residual may have been changed since I tried out the site. I really will know tomorrow - ideally I would get the benefit of the lower rate and get to keep my higher residual.

Hi Alan,

That is exactly what I meant, 328 has the highest residual value.

It is not surprising me at all seeing different people get different answers for the same question from different dealer and none of them is correct in fact.
I met only few knowledgable dealers in the past, though I guess it fits pretty much any specialty.

I believe that indeed the e92 has lower residual. This is not unusual for BMW when they introduce a model which is popular (more profit for them). The residual will increase a little over time (by the end of this year).
