I need advice regarding a (DIY?) brake job

Ok, so a year ago or something I hit a pot hole, busted a rear rim. I replaced with aftermarket wheels which never seemd to quite balance up properly. I got rid of those wheels and went back to a set of OEM wheels, which started getting out of balance again. I rebalnced them, and again they became unbalanced 5k miles later.

Ugh, so I just recently put on brand new tires in the rear. Everything is going GREAT for about 2k miles, then i start to feel that shimmy (FML).

I've had this thing looked over more than once and nobody has spotted any damage. Finally today I just started looking around in there and find this:

Rotor obviously has damage and so I'm thinking I need to replace both the rear rotors. Fine, but I have a couple of questions about it....

1) What could possibly have impacted the rotor that hard to leave such a dent in it? - granted it was probably pretty HOT b/c the wheel was borked in a rather spirited canyon cruise

2) Can I just unbolt everything and replace the rotors, or am I going to need to replace the pad sensors? The pads themselves are fairly new, so I'm thinking I Should just leave those be.

3) Would you expect to find any other damaged components in there, if so which ones?

Get the suspension checked over really well. If you are wearing out tires that bad, something in your alignment is way off.

Oh, and your pic is too blurry to even see what you are talking about. Try taking one without the flash.

I've had the alignment done. There aren't any abnormal wear patterns on the tires and still tons of tread, I'm just guessing the warp in the rotor is causing 1 slide to wear ever so slightly faster than the other... a few grams of rubber and you are out of balance.

hmmm nevermind i think i just spotted a machine out part of the inside of the rotor.... idk why the fuck they would do that now im back to square 1

Incorrect thread title ???

So I may be missing something here but what does wheel balance have to do with DIY brake change? http://www.e90post.com/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif

You can replace your rotor without replacing pads or sensor. Should be pretty easy follow the DIY on the site in the DIY section.

Just take the caliper off and swap
Out the rotor with a new one, it's easy.
