+1 for 3M matte vinyl!

For anyone in the Chicagoland area, I purchased this from Custom Accents located in Rolling Meadows. For $35, Ron (I think the owner) sold me all of the 3M vinyl pictured belows and cut it into strips for me. He figured I would screw up, which I did a few times, so he made sure I had enough to basically do all the window trim 4 times. I took off all the window chrome, wrapped, then put it back on ... worst idea ever, but it looks great once its allll done.

.... So start with this

.... Before and AFTER

Makes one hell of a difference. But next time, I'll buy a BMW with matte black trim already on it.

Opinions welcome, thanks for the space

Getting it off is the easy part. The long piece across the tip, I took a skinny/wide crowbar and wrapped it with a microfiber towel and just work my way from front to back and it pops off, then snap it back on. The lower sill trim, I got my fingers behind the back and gently pulled towards me/up and it slides out. But that leaves the rubber channel in the door that you also have to remove. When you pull that out it bends like a bitch. I had to wrestle the trim back into the channel/rubber strip and then squeeze it back into the door without the trim popping off the strip. It was a bitch and took up my entire weekend.

I tried it on the car, it looked like shit haha.

Nice job...The upper window trim is a lot easier to wrap with it off. You don't need a crowbar, just use your fingers and start at the back. Take the seal on the back off, near the rear curve. Wrap the vinyl around the edges to prevent lifting. You'll want to take off the foam strip along the outer edges to allow better adhesion. The foam doesn't seal anything, just protects the paint from the metal. However with vinyl around the edges, you don't need the foam anymore.

The lower window sill trim should NOT be removed as the OP mentioned you need to remove the seals which bend upon removal. Just lay the vinyl on top and use a squeegee (or the like, old credit/gift card will work as well) to tuck it under the edges. Be careful, too much force will lift the trim out of the rubber seal and if you lift enough out, you won't be able to get it back in without removing the seal.

In certain parts. But any county in any state has its ghetto spots.

Youu sir are correct. If I knew how much of a hassle it was going to be to make sure the trim doesnt come off of the now bent rubber channel while trying to push it back in. I surely would have just left it on the car lol.

But all in all and everything done, it looks great and only ran me $35 plus like probably 20-30 hrs of labor and cursing.
