Coding for installing an alarm

I want to install an OEM alarm, but I've read that the car must be coded from the dealership. Does anyone else have that ability to do that here? I'm used to VW/Audi have VAG com where people can change stuff like that on there own. Thanks.

Not that I know of. As a matter of fact, I asked the dealer if they could code my alarm and they said they wouldn't code it unless they installed it. So I ended up just buying the alarm from the dealer and having them install it. I think I paid about $600. Not too bad considering the alarm goes for about $250ish shipped and then mainland dealers are charging about 1.5-2 hours labor for the coding. Assuming $100-$120/hr labor, you're paying about a 30% premium to the dealer.

That sucks and one downside to living on the island with one dealer. It's not like you can take your business somewhere else.
