Metal Caps causing the TPS to fail?

Just got a call from the dealership and they told me that the metal caps (aftermarket rims) on my tire caused the sensor to fail. They took the caps off and reset the monitor and it works fine now... I am not sure why the sensors didn’t fail two months ago when I got the tires installed... Has anyone else been told that the metal caps will cause the sensors to malfunction?

is the flat tire sensor hardwired into the valvestem in the 335? In the 330, it's linked to the ABS, not the rim, so new rims wouldn't be an issue. Can you just put black plastic caps on the rims you have? Though I know that would probably ruin the "look" you're after.

I am going to when I get my car back tomorrow. I had to take it in last week because the exterior light sensor was malfunctioning and they had to replace it and when I get my car back I notice the TPS malfunctioned...

They showed me the TPS when they removed them from the RunFlats and installed them onto my new rims. The plastic caps will look a bit lame but the sensor was annoying.

wheelwarehouse.com but if they installed it incorrectly i would have assumed the sensor would have malfunctioned immediately not two months later...

Run a search. There was some type of TSB that BMW issued about using metal caps. Someone posted a copy of the TSB. It might of been posted on bimmerfest.com though, not sure.
