How do you remove black vinyl piece (trunk)

The black vinyl piece is located right before the trunk on the rear bumper. I think its meant to protect the bumper from getting scratched from loading stuff into the trunk. I've noticed alot of bmws don't have it.....I wish I didn't now I have to waste time removing it. Is there a diy that I'm missing from my search?

Maybe post some pics? Its not something that you can just peel and maybe use some Goo Gone if need be? I know what you're talking about but didn't think they commonly came in vinyl.

I think you should be safe. I really doubt that something like that would take off the paint. But you may want to wait for some others to chime in just to be on the safe side.
