HID help please!!! =(

So here's my situation my fellow members...

First off, i drive an 06 325i and converted to LCI halogens. I went to my local shop to install HID to my low beams and Fog lights. The both ballasts are canibus with built in error cancelers.

But it seems to be throwing errors still. I noticed the headlights are more stable than the fog lights. When i only turn on the headlights, i experience very minimal errors. It would throw an error when i first turn on the lights then would go away quite fast. When i turn on the fog lights, it would throw an error too and would go away. The problem when is when i drive the car in motion, error would throw constantly. It would clear then throw errors after a few minutes. This would go on and on...

What should i do? Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP??? I don't understand why this is happening and what is causing it??

PLEASE help me out! Tell me what to do!

I believe it's a no go in 06 cars. I think only early 07's and on can run HIDs with the cancelors and get no errors.

i read on another thread that you have to put capacitors on it... have you heard about this? Thanks for you reply regardless...

It's the car's way of telling you to not put HIDs in halogen housing.

You should be able just to wire some resistors/capacitors into it and it should cut out the errors. What causes the errors most of the times is due to the HIDs being 35watt where as the stock halogens are 55w. What I've been doing lately is just putting in 55w kits if the housing is big enough. Cuts the error in most cars and is brighter. However, if your going to be running more than 1 kit you might want to think about running at relay harness to the battery (hard on our cars), but if your only doing 1 kit you should be fine.

In short just wire in some resistors and call it a day. I find most shops don't know crap when it comes to hid's. (which is why I install them for everyone I know).

I would not run a 55watt on a BMW, might just burn the headlight down.

Your second suggestion is the correct path, the only way to fix these problems on a 06 is to relay the power, using a relay harness, then using resistors to cancel out the errors.

Both the fogs and headlights must be relayed to the cars battery, simple plug and play will not work.

so let me guess this straight, two steps to fix this problem to my understanding above yeah?

wire CAPACITORS and put relay harness on both kits? any suggestions on where to buy for both products?

Thanks everyone!

I have used capacitors on several of my kits so far, and they do a superb job if keeping the errors away. Without them, they would throw errors while driving, and with them on, they wouldnt.

After installing the capacitors (do a search, someone has a DIY on it), they work flawlessly with no errors.

Wow thanks for the advice! Yes, i have read another DIY on this on how to splice the capacitors in. I read that this is pretty common on the fog lights. I will do this for sure.

How about on the headlights? Do you think this is also necessesary to prevent errors as well?
