HID Angels, E92 non-adaptive, non-DRL Headlights?

Hello, I'm in the process of fitting Alpine's HID kit - thanks Alex, I'll post up later, great kit, I've modded some of the cable lengths to suit the engine layout over here because of the different air box etc.

In Europe the headlights may be slightly different:

As you can see from the pics below the bulb holder area, reflector, lens and supporting arms for the lens are all plastic, chromed or otherwise.

Here is the plastic single skin convex lens:

The reflector and bulb holder, again plastic:

Internals of the reflector (currently, embarrassing cheapo ebay LED bulbs) - chromed plastic:

All 3:

External, you can see the internal inner lens for the angels is smooth, not as the others which I believe are ribbed glass with metal supports, with the H3 adaptive lights:

These are the non-adaptive and non-DLR headlights, you can set the DRL 'on' or 'off' on the OBC as it is not compulsory here, if you set it to 'on' then the angels light up alone.

I've seen many pics of the HID Angel installs in here and they all have a different set of internals in that half of the headlight, probably due to the adaptive or DRL function, plus H3s fitted too.

My worry now is HEAT?

Has anyone fitted the HIDs into the type of E92 headlights above?

I'm worried the plastic lens and surrounds are going to be affected?

Thanks guys.

You will be fine, I have many HID Angel Eye customers with your setup no problem, our bulbs do not get that hot, they are very close to OEM temp.

Thank you for the reassurance Alex, hopefully drop the HID capsules in soon, when it stops raining here.

I have the loom you provided all set up and wired in now

No problem John, just please make sure you use the white spacer in between the bulb and the red gourmet, the will keep the bulb centered and put out the most light

Will do, I'll get some pics up when completed.

I've yet to see another E90/92 in the area with these fitted, only one with the very low brightness LEDs, probably from ebay again.

Thanks Again.

^^^Hmmm. I might have the same as above. Mine is an E92 325i 09/2006 build.

I completed the installation today, with two problems:

1. The resistor for the other side gave a bulb failure message on the display. I overcame this by re fitting the inverter I had from the cheap LED kit from ebay instead of the resistor provided - problem cured, no bulb out error!

2. When the engine is started, from the push button I get the angel eyes flashing for the first few seconds, whether they are on or off, you can hear the relay chattering away.

Also with the 'so called' heat issue I measured the bulb temperature in the headlight, max. I could get was 379F, this was with a fully calibrated spot surface temperature gun.

Alex (or anyone), do you have a solution for me?

Thanks.

***EDIT, PM to Alex, he's sending out the correct parts, I didn't originally make him aware it was a pre 07 model ***.

Thanks Again Alex.

Well I'm still waiting the correct parts to be sent out for my pre '07 E92.

So no pics for now

The HIDs fast flash when the key fob is inserted for a few seconds.

***EDIT: Alex has contacted me again and re-sending the additional parts express and tracked, hopefully I can get some pics up soon?***
