My car has been on hold at the VPC. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

My car came in on the Hojin.


Day 00: 12MAY10 - Ordered
Day 14: 26MAY10 – In Production
Day 21: 02JUN10 - Car is born
Day 30: 11JUN10 - On the ship
Day 56: 07JUL10 - On U.S. soil
Day 58: 09JUL10 – At the VPC

Something similar happened with my M3.

Per my dealer's request the VPC prioritized my car in order to ship in time for the July 4th weekend. They had it finished on Thursday and handed it over to Waggoner's. It didn't make it onto a truck until the following Wednesday.

Not sure what's going on, but my guess is that the trucking companies are trying to figure out how to "rightsize."

Five days later and there is not even an ETA…

I checked inventory at a different local dealers and it looks like there has not been a delivery in quite some time.

Allegedly, there is a trucking issue in California with the entire west coast being affected. Are other people experiencing the same thing?

My car reached the New Jersey VPC on the Undine in record time on 7/7 after ordering it on 6/4. My dealership is 3 hours away in Connecticut... I thought I beat the odds and was looking at a 5-week cycle...

10 days later it is still "waiting for a truck".
CA says there is a new trucking company and all deliveries have been delayed.

I think I may have ordered same vehicle from same dealer in CT. Was on same ship and tied up at VPC since July 7th. Dealer babbled about trucking company and that it "should" be at dealership this coming week.

Well, I'm not sure we have the same dealer...
Mine did not "babble" anything, he's actually a real good guy who has provided great service whenever I call and I trust his answer. I was joking about the conspiracy theory, just wondered if anyone else was enduring this delay...

Have you received an ETA on your vehicle? Is the dealer in Hartford? I was being kidding about the babbling. I suspect he did not have a definitive answer as to what is happening. He did say there is either a new trucking company or a contract change. Sounds like the delay is getting the vehicle scheduled on a truck.

Last I heard was that there are ~10,000 cars at the (So. Cal) VPC waiting to be delivered, and that there is no realistic ETA. Another ship is arriving tomorrow at Port Hueneme so the situation is going to get even tighter.

I also know one lucky bastard who did receive a car from the same ship, so at least there's hope.

One would think that the dealers would want to get these cars before months-end to meet the proverbial numbers so maybe there is some additional incentive.

Yah, it looks like we ordered the same car from the same dealer and were on the same boat and are both from Mass. I feel like someone else came to the prom in my same dress Hopefully you are not from my town so I can feel unique for a few days at least!
CA said it will hopefully arrive tomorrow or Tuesday... Hopefully.

Not to worry though, I probably would have done black or graphite but my boss has a black 750 and I did not want to be his mini-me so I went with DSB.

I heard something today about a faulty fuel sensor holding up the line. Still no concrete delivery ETA but at least it's something...

My current vehicle has to be turned in this week so I feel your pain and then some.

It's interesting that there's nothing in the official channels about this. My sales guy has been really open with me about the whole deal and when he told me last week about the fuel system issue- apparently they can't even deliver cars on the lot- I begin to think it was a serious issue.

Why else would they keep our new toys from us? Right?

Sorry ilsb, he's my CA at New Country.
He called today and said it did not come in, and read some emails they sent to VPC about expediting their cars, and the reply was basically "will do... Soon".
Problem is "soon" is in the eye of the beholder ( or wait-er in this case).
He did say they have cars there that are 20 days in, but not sure if they are 5's or not.
I posted similar concern on other BMW site 3 days ago and no replies. Guess there is not alot of outcry yet.

called my CA at New Country today and he said he did not know anything about the delay at the VPC, that nothing was disclosed at the "sales meeting" today, so he does not know why the delay....not much help. I am going to push harder tomorrow for an answer since my lease end date is approaching soon. I believe they should be pushing for more info. Something is not right with this picture.

Mine has been sitting in the port since the 9th, waiting for it in NJ. CA told me they are backed up. I am hoping I get the call saying it arrived today. I doubt it!
