How can we tell if we are 29.2?

I just installed a BMS intake and JB3 2.0 running on map 5. I want to get the most out of the JB3, but want to have a sleeper. That being said, I'll keep the stock exhaust, but want to look into downpipes because of the considerable gains.

Looks like AR Designs Catted version is the way to go for me, but it does mention "NO CEL on pre 29.2 Progman cars - post 29.2/MSD81 testing is currently being completed, but due to the superior quality of the cats, we expect no issues."

I want to stick with cats so I dont have to worry about messing with tricking the ECU and for warranty issues (I have a cool SA who wont give me problems if I get DP's with cats) but I dont know how to check what programming my ECU is running. I have a BT tool, can I use that to find out?

Thanks, and sorry if this is a newbie question...

BT Tool won't help you on this. Only way to find out SW version is to take it to the dealer and have them read your key remote.

Also, there are "secret" menus in the BMW on board display that you can access. The software version is listed there as well, but it is in HEX and I've had some hard time converting it to DEC. Those menus are in German too.

hahah - your response might as well have been in German. when you say key remote, do you mean literally my key fob? I have Idrive and nav, are the menus in there?

the service data for you car is stored in the key fob itself.... (ie remote)

the I-Level or software version is listed on the key data print-out -- if this information is read by your local dealership.. (ie key reader)

if you have a good relationship with your advisor, just ask him/her to read the key and take a look at the print out..

if you need to decipher the I-Level versions vs the numerical version -- chk out the SIB 09 07 07 for all the current versions >> I-Levels ... see how that works out for you ...

cheers !!
