Driver Side Defrost Cover Removal

My Defrost Cover is pealing. The dealership says that it will not replace it under warranty and want $200 to do it. The part, 51 45 7 059 215, cost about $5.00. I am wondering if anyone know how to remove this piece. Does it just pop out or does the dash need to be removed?

Thank you for your help.

I will have to take a picture. It is the vent on the driver side on the dash.

Without pics you need to describe better what you're talking about. Seems to be the vent trim piece above the headlight switch, correct? If so, you just need a trim tool (or even a protected screwdriver) to pop it out from the outside first, then use your hands to pop the other tab next to the steering wheel column.

And what the heck is peeling anyway? Aluminum? Carbon leather? Hope this helps.
