You'll have to check the VIN number (the last 7 symbols).

You are talking about the N47 engine. You can find some info about the power change dates here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N47

From that table it seems that the 177hp version was introduced in March 2007.

I wish we can buy 320d here in us. Gas savings will pay for the car itself.

Didn't realize ppl in the US were interested in 9 sec 0-60 mph cars

It's 7.5 from 0 to 62 and it's very reasonable if you ask me...the 335d time is 6.0. Not much of a difference

The 320d has 40% better fuel consumption than the 335d on average, and 52% better fuel consumption in urban traffic. It has 8% more torque than the Audi A4 2.0T.

I drove one and its really snappy, it has alot of torque and enough power. I really like it.

my wife has the 320xd. Pulls strong and very economic. More then fast enough for daily driving. 40mpg(US) is easy to achieve (with 4x4 and automatic, without 45mpg should be no problem).
However, I drove a 330 xd automatic for several days and it was using less fuel! Was doing 44mpg without really doing an effort. And the 330 really pulls!
