'09 328xi loaner/ Vishnu tech support/ software update
Got a '09 328xi coupe loaner today. Power on this car sucks compare to my 335xi. I do have to say I do like the navigation and chimes on the new car. The radio station change is instant with no silent pause when changing radio stations. The seatbelt chime is much less annoying as well. Handeling was about the same but it feels better in my 335xi sedan.
I dropped it off for the front brake pads replacement at 30k miles. I also mentioned that my transmission wasn't shifting correctly so I can get the new software installed. I spent about 45 min un-installing my procede and forgot how to remove the wires that sits in the black housing. I called Vishnu with no answer from 4:10-4:25pm est until I figured it out myself. All you have to do is put in a small flat screw driver in the small opening on the side. But I was kind of furious during the time I couldn't figure it out and had no help to help me in this 100 degree humid muggy weather. I called 866-584-7531 with no answer. I really hope they were out for lunch as I really never call in for any technical support because if I experience this again I'll be really upset with Vishnu phone technical support when away from a computer. My SA couldnt tell me what version I had when he put in my key fob in the blue docket. He just told me what navigation version I had. How would I know what version they upgraded me if they do an upgrade to my car? I can't believe he also said that it's $150 for an oil change. I wish there was a device that instead of clearing or resetting the oil service, it will say that it needs a oil change since it cost so much and it's free under warranty at the dealership. (hint hint for an extra feature in the Procede CANbus) |

maybe you should learn how to change your own oil? The dealership will change your oil for free if under warranty either at the pre-set intervals or once every year I believe up until 4 yrs / 50k miles

Yes is every 15k miles or less depending on how hard your drive the car and conditions it goes through. I know how to change my own oil as well just looking for another way to stick it to the stealership. I got my first oil change around 13.5k and my friend got his at 11k from the dealership. It all depends how you drive your car.

you could have just watched the install video if you forgot how to do it.
you know, they probably saw your number and didn't pick up because they thought you were just going to request some ridiculous feature, like a forced oil change warning. Last edited by jpsimon; 07-08-2010 at 07:49 AM.. |

I asked them when picking up the car since it wasn't on the paperwork I got. They pulled some other paperwork that had the version on it and showed it to me.

If when opening door/unlocking car you hear a "whirring" noise that sounds like the seat moving moving forward or back, then thats the fuel pump priming = 37.2 or higher.

I just called the Vishnu support desk yesterday and got Robert on the phone right away.
Asked a question about running the Procede on a Windows 7 platform and he sent me a couple of emails. Admittedly, the second email came the next day......but nonetheless the turnaround was very good. Of course, my situation wasn't as urgent as the OP's. I don't think anyone is going to beat BMS for customer support though. When I remove my procede annually for the free oil change, I also forget which wires connect in the harness and I just search for a DIY on E90 or N54tech. |

Is denite not a Vishnu problem as I'm not suggesting it is. Just mad that the only time I need help nobody is there to pick up my call. I do have a BB, but when you in 100 degree humid weather and frustrated, you kind of loose your mind a bit. I thought of that but a quick answer would of solved it for me.

He printed out like 7 papers but didn't show it to me. He showed me the one that had my navigation version which had nothing to do with software of the car.

Failed? Why
I had watch the video several times before installing the Procede. I've never had to completely remove the Procede from the car in the past, as when I go in for oil changes, filter, tires they don't seem to care. This time I went in for a software upgrade so I had to remove the Procede if anything went wrong. This was my first time going uninstalling the Procede so I had trouble with the wires sitting in the plastic black housing. Last time I watch the video was right before and during the install process. The process is not that difficult, if I had to do it again, I'll do everything in 20 min. Again, not blaming anybody for my time of uninstalling the Procede. Was busy all day, bank closed at 4pm so I did it right after that in a parking lot. I had my 8mm & flat screw driver with me. I'm not blaming Vishnu for not being around the time I called, just frustrated that nobody picked up when I called at that time especially doing it outside in 100 degree weather. Like I said before, they could of been out to lunch or been busy with someones else. By having the Procede trick the ECU into thinking it is due for an oil change so you don't have to spend the $ yourself is a nice feature if it can be implemented. How many of us wouldn't like to have a feature like this to stick it back to the stealership. I understand that this has noting to do with tuning an engine, but why not have it if it can be done. |

Have you heard of the "annual low mileage oil change" service from BMW? I have used that twice already to get an oil change before it was due. And how much does an oil change cost anyway even you had to pay for it? I'm surprised you spent your money on Procede. |

And now you're suggesting they implement a feature which scams BMW into paying for more oil changes than you're entitled to - as if there wasn't already enough tension between BMW and the tuners.

Why call it a scam, if that's the case then clearing tuner codes is a scam too. By clearing tuner codes the dealerships doesn't know they're there. So if anything does go wrong due to the tune, BMW comes out of pocket even more money. Think about it. Quote:
But this wouldn't apply to most of us tuned cars. We definitely drive more than low miles and run higher boost than normal.
