Why Didn't You Buy An M3?!
Aside from the obvious 3 reasons:
1. The Extra $$$$ ($10K - $20K difference) 2. Gas Guzzler! Less than favorable Fuel Economy 3. Minimal Mods required, if you're heavily into Mods So! What ARE the reason why you didn't buy an M3?! |

If I had the money, I would buy an M3 immediately

Don't want to spend the money at the racetrack if I bought the car.. It cost 7500 a year to race around a proper track here in NJ. Plus 166 everytime you show up. Buying the car would be a waste. I wouldn't buy an M3 anyway. There are too many other cars around the same price that are very different but very attractive as well. e.g.. Cayman S and C63

4. No AWD... I ski a lot, and a car that can't get me to the slopes on the worst winter days is worthless! So I got the 335 + some mods to make a snow driving beast that isn't afraid to get a little dirty.

My thoughts exactly. Pretty much the same reason, but I also have a baby and when it snows up here, I need to be able to get the kid home/out when I need to. Then again, there's still the 528xi. I've been thinking about the x5 mtech too. I liked the X5M, but it didn't have fogs. Glad that the new mtech kit has fogs.

Cost, higher maintenance costs over time, fuel economy. Plus, I like the straight 6. The 335i is already quick enough and fast enough for anything I want to do with it.

In order of what prevented me from one:
1) Insurance difference per year 2) Hood bump (yes I hate it that much) 3) price difference speced the way I want 4) Lack of places to rev past 3900rpm to get any TQ 5) I'm not a good enough driver to warrant driving an "M" car 6) Cost more to maintain 7) Priced out the way I want, it would be far too close to a 911 (final nail in the coffin)

2. low-end torque is low for a v-8. and it is expensive for a 3 series. no doubt its performance is much much better than a reg 3 series, but most of us don't need that. |

The insurance was not much more, and I actually like the bump. But the reasons that really kept me from getting an M3 were: 1. When the hell am I going to use 414HP? I BARELY use 300HP now! lol.. 2. $15K more is A LOT of money. 3. Future maintenance cost. 4. Gas Guzzler, I didn't want to pay that Tax amount OR only get 17mpg. 5. I'm a car enthusiast, but not crazy enough for an Motorsport Car I guess. |

it really isnt. If i wasnt a snowboarder and lived somewhere like cali or down south, i'd probably have a CPO E92 M3. I'm actually very happy with my choice for where i am in the northeast. Xdrive is awesome. I drove to VT and on the last day came home in about 4 inches of fresh powder on all seasons. Plus id be pissed off if i had gotten the V8 and then found out about the next M3 being a TT. Im very happy about the choices i made for my first BMW

The bumper/hood fitment looks really off in that picture. There is a huge gap between the grills and the hood.
