Death by dust

Now I did think it was volcanic ash but it must be pollen - less than a day after I've washed my car, even without using it, it's covered in dust.

It's very rural here which might not help but it's driving me slightly up the wall.

Anyone got a cover for their E91? About £150 but not sure if it's going a bit far. Maybe it will stop soon?

Never noticed it as much until I got a rather shiny black car.

We have a garage but it's a tight squeeze and full of other stuff.

Hmmm...

Sounds like you answered the question.

Get the garage sorted and start putting the car in there.

Its a nightmare with sapphire black though. You don't even get a day. You get a few hours before it is noticable again.

Wasn't like this last summer.. No way..

Welcome to the world of dark coloured cars. I live opposite a field even just one hour and not moving the car is covered in dust. Looks awful to me but in reality still looks minty fresh to everyone else.

My allocated parking spot is under a tree. Was never really that much of an issue in our last car a silver E38. With an E91 in sapphire black though

Noticed it was dusty the other week but it's pi$$ed it down since up here and the dust seems to have gone.

Gotta role with it Matt I'm afraid.........actually, wax the car, drive it with some conviction and the dust should fly off - job done!

If only it were that easy... Our apartment block has numbered parking spaces which are tied to each lease. May have to consider getting a car cover...

Don't get a car cover.. more likely to scratch the car.. esp the better half and 2 children.

Make most of a simple weekly rinse, and a quick detail rinse on bird marks etc aa soon as you see them.

I came off a kerb the other day and damaged my side sill! Can't be bothered parking in garage every day.. not till I get around to getting it all spotless again.

Hmm - comments of scratching don't really make them that appealing. Another issue is when you forget something (or just need something) from the car - you have to take the entire cover off.

Maybe I'll just keep cleaning it a couple of times a week. Trouble is, being black it needs full drying each time to avoid nasty watermarks! Doesn't take long but still a bit of a faff.

Oh the joy of a silver car....

As said contact-covers are rubbish and can only be used if the car is already spotless else the dust acts like sandpaper on your paintwork! No matter how 'soft' the manufacturers claim the cover is, it will still marr the paintwork.

Could get one of these: http://www.protech-shelters.co.uk/

or these: http://dancovershop.com/product.asp?product=860

Or just buy another car in a sensible colour
