Autobahn South Course July 10th - AMS Performance

More info here:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1971493

I get the feeling not a lot of guys track on here, but AMS usually does a good job with having instructors available, and you can go at your own pace - its not a race. Learn about your car, improve your driving skills, etc. Having an instructor is vital and free, and helps you learn the lines of the course ( just like in Gran Tourismo ) and is a lot of fun. It's only as wild and aggressive as you make it... I've done over 10 track days and have never even been close to having anything go seriously wrong, it all depends on you, the driver, and being wise, having an instructor if you're new to the course, and driving to your comfort level.

$225 for the entire day and SIX sessions - its a great price. I just signed up for this, and will be hanging out with some of the subie guys, but thought it would be cool to get it out there for the bimmer crowd if anyone is interested.

Thanks,

John

Awesome, Tom! I signed up for the beginner class, since its my first time tracking the 335 and I don't want to get too aggressive with the car in order to avoid any limp mode stuff, etc.

Bump for more bimmer guys, cmonnnnn!

I just emailed AMS to be put in the intermediate group for now, meh,I'll still be taking it somewhat easy to avoid limp mode, but I'm more than fine with waving people by if I need to.

I'm going without one. I will be watching my temps, and that's about all I can do for now. We'll see how she does.

typically, no. Track insurance is available on the market for a fairly minimal cost, considering the coverage provided. But it also depends on your policy, insuring company, etc... some have language that says if you are "on a racetrack" you could be denied, others say if its a timed event or race, which these aren't, so its kind of a grey area, but it is definitely a risk. Most guys in the beginner class with instructors don't have an issue, but then again, things can happen. I would say in all the events I've been too, the only ones with incidents were at road america with the corvette and F-body guys, all of whom I believe were in the advanced group, who crashed their cars.

Not sure if you attended ACC last year when AMS hosted it.....I signed up for the late trackday event and they added an extra session for everyone, it was a helluva lot of fun!!!

Kinda upset the full 3.5 course isn't available like last year.......

If you're doing the full track day, i'm sure you've considered extra pads, fluids, duct tape..etc...

See you at the track

Here I am getting chased down......ughhh

Hey Packet, yeah, I was there last year in my STI, full course is nice, thats for sure, but south will be good.

I will be doing oil change and brake fluids only most likely, as I'm not going to be pushing it too hard.
