TPMS Needed?
I just bougtht a 07 e90 335 (loaded except for active steering) and am planning on swapping wheels but have no idea what I am going with. I am torn between the BBS RGR and CH and can't decide between 19 or 18 Well any way A few weeks ago I was checking out wheels on tire rack and it was asking if I wanted to add the TPMS sensors but now it does not ask for some reason. I thought they may just be out of stock but if I switch to the coupe it still asks if I want them. I was reading another post that said they were required for the coupe but not for the sedan because the had different types of TPMS systems. Does anyone know if this is true?

If your car has the rubber (flexible) valve stems you don't need them if you have the rigid valve stem you will need them. The dealer charges $15 ea. If you go this way you will have to have the wheels/tires dismounted and mounted again to allow for installation of the sensors. The dealer is pricey to do this job but the end product is very good no shimmy at either high or low speed and you could rest assure your new wheels won't get scratched.

Not one single 335i Sedan owner has yet reported that he had the TPMS sensors. Thus far all have been the ABS based system. 335i Coupes on the other hand have all had the sensors for USA model cars.

Thanks for the info Gary. I can’t blame anyone for being confused about the 335 sedan/tpms question. Even the BMW service rep i spoke to today seems to think both the 335 sedan and coupe have TPMS installed.
I guess I’ll find out the hard way when I install my new wheels. PS, any market for my 162’s with runflats? Last edited by uberschnell; 03-29-2007 at 07:51 PM.. |
