Who did you tune with? Feedback wanted
Hey guys,
I've done some searching on here and just wanted to throw this out here locally, but what shop, piggyback, or flash have you used (whether its local or not, but looking for a lot of local feedback) on your car and what's your experience been? I am somewhat considering the JB3 or possibly getting the handheld from LET/Eurocharged, as its very similar to what Cobb has done for the Subaru crowd, and is very convenient. Thanks, John

I am running GIAC stage 1 right now, should be getting Stage 2 shortly as I have all of the supporting mods. I got flashed at Dubwerks in libertyville.
there are plenty of reviews of GIAC on the boards, personally I love it. It feels like a very strong NA engine, very smooth and linear. No CEL ever, I did have SES light due to my DP but I put in BMS o2 sims and no more issues. Max boost on S1 when warm is around 13.5 PSI. DW will flash you back to stock and back to GIAC for dealer visits for free. I hope that the handheld switcher will come out soon. good luck

Thanks, I'm just concerned about any possible issues with getting it flashed back to stock in a hurry if needed, if I went with something like the GAIC. I hear that they may be doing a handheld in the future, but as usual, product development takes quite some time. 13.5PSI is pretty nice though

I've been running the JB3 since version 1.3. I just upgraded to 2.0 a month ago. I've got the BMS DCI and AMS catback exhaust. I'm running map 5 and it runs very strong without any issues. The car has been very reliable and still gets good fuel economy. Terry's customer service is awesome. I highly recommend it.

haha, you feel STRONGLY about that!! Yeah, for stage 1 and the "warranty", its not too bad, but the price is pretty hefty. I'm not sure if the current pricing on their site reflects the 20% off or not, but i think that ends today. Quote:
cool, thats the kind of feedback i was hoping for and maybe others will chime in. As I was saying above, I'm pretty torn between JB3 or the eurocharged handheld, mostly for the convenience, even if the JB3 may have more power to offer, we'll see.

that's cool, I may end up doing that (EC) then. Perhaps I can cut a deal with a shop by me for baseline dyno and after flash dyno run to see the results.

I would probably only go stage 1 or 2 ( i think you guys have stage 2 for no other parts, just higher boost levels), as the car is CPO'd and I don't want to jepoardize that.. too much, lol. I don't see myself doing even an intake, and def no dp. That would be AWESOME if you could help install something

If you just wanna crank up the psi and let'r rip while throwing caution to the wind, jb3 is perfect.

Well no, I don't want to get too risky. Are the boost levels pretty high on JB3? I thought there were switchable maps, etc?

Cool, I may take you up on that, thanks! I'm also asking around shops for tuning advice and just found out about Fluid Motor Union as well.

As you know, I went EC and am very happy. I throw the occassional SES due to the fact that I am running completely catless even with sims (mostly when temps drop quickly)...but Mark and I share a BT tool with one slot left if you are concerned to clear codes if any.
EC has a dyno on site to pull a baseline and comp after. I have supporting mods and run stage II.

That's cool! I didn't know the BT tool was slotted or only allowed so many users, I'll have to keep that in mind.
For the cost and convenience, the EC flash with the handheld is quite good, but also talked with Fluid Motor Union earlier and they were very nice to deal with and their stage 1 tune sounds really nice, but definitely more costly, probably up there with the Dubwerks tune. However, they may have a handheld unit coming out soon too. I may have to take a few trips out to EC, Fluid, etc., and get some more feedback. Thanks so much to everyone who has posted and/or pm'd me, really appreciate it

That's cool. I had the Fluid tune, and it was great. My one gripe was not being able to flash back to stock without driving out there. They use Powerchip to flash (not the most popular with the 335 crowd but popular with M3's), so you could do some research on that if you'd like.

Hey Kyle, it sounds like Fluid is going with a handheld soon as well, but their tunes are significantly more expensive. For what I want, and for being stealth and easy to remove, I'm looking heavily at the JB+ now ( I know I just said I wasn't a few posts back and will now PM Sitdown, lol) and the EC handheld still. Looks like the JB+ is essentially a boost controller for the most part, but I can't help but want something in a handheld that's flash-able, e.g., like the Cobb stuff that I'm so used to.

I don't blame you. The reason I went with it is because I got to test it out during it's development. I think the reason it's relatively unknown is because of the price

yeah, the price is up there, as is the EC handheld with tune. It may come down to those 2 or try the JB+ used for now and see whats up.
