Opinions on best performing run-flat tyres?
I've been trying to find info out there about various runflats (minus the pro's and cons). I don't like the performance nor the road noise of the stock feet I have on my zsp. The benefits I read about are more because of inattentive drivers at high speed and bad neighborhoods. Not a car related issue and obviously not on a M.
But instead of replacing rims and opting for non-rfts what are some drivers' experiences on various tyres? Is there a better option? What can you guys add? |

It's largely a matter of personal preference. Perhaps you could check out your local dealers and test drive a couple of cars with different tires (admittedly, not easy to arrange). My 18" Potenza's seem creamy fine to me but I've seen posts from others complaining of noise. I'm currently on 17" Dunlop M Sport winter tires (obviously not relevant to AZ!!) but coming into work on the highway this morning with the music off, I noticed how quiet they were. A lot also depends on your road condition (not weather, actual asphalt condition). RFTs are supposed to be an E90+ issue due to the suspension tuning but it also seems that some people have swapped to non-RFTs with no performance issues. It all comes down to your own sensitivities and expectations - hence the advice to check out a couple of cars with different shoes.

Replacing rims? Your rims are not runflat-specific. You can fit whatever tires you want on the stock rims.
